Length of longest threads

What is the record for posts on a topic? Is "Ev explains the Pyra situation" coming close to breaking the record?

Matt thinks there are too many posts

yikes, Matt. what do you mean MetaFilter's filling up (note on the front page at the top right)?

I wanted to see how Metafilter has grown since its launch

I wanted to see how Metafilter has grown since its launch, so I crawled the archives for thread/comment totals for every day since July 1999. Then, I wrote a script to plot all the data in line graphs and tables. Click on the links to drill down.

It's interesting to see how quickly the commenting community have grown. At this rate, Matt will have to build thread-within-thread support to handle the sheer number of comments.

Clickthrough counter?

How about a counter that would allow us to see how many times a particular link has been viewed? On the other hand, might be a bit cluttery. Just a thought.

November Stats

I hope this doesn't come off as pompous or anything, I just wanted to show everyone the metafilter stats for November. A few things to note: the times are in GMT, so they're 8 hours behind the real time (there isn't a 9am lull in requests, that's actually a 1am lull, PST). I started keeping track of bytes transferred about half way through the month, so the data transfers are off. 330,000 page views is pretty wacky though. As usual, the search requests are mostly disturbing. I don't want to meet most of the people doing those searches.

average click-through of a link posted on MeFi proper?

Is there any way of determining the average click-through of a link posted on MeFi proper?

this thread, about Winnie the Pooh, sparked the thought, because the author came by (a Good Thing) and talked about what he'd done because of his referrer logs.

MeFi Statistics

Miscellaneous thought: What MF usage statistic would you most like to see? I'd love to know who has closed the most threads (had the last word most often) ... Average sessions per member/per active member would be interesting too.
