You guys BLEW MY MIND with the Weird Science theme from last week; this week, I want you to BLOW MY MIND AGAIN with your super-sweet art! Tag it #sweetart and let me revel in your super-cool and super-sweet art! [more inside]
Hey, MetaFilter! We're having a theme week, as part of our fundraising month! The theme for this week is WEIRD SCIENCE! I want to see all kinds of science posts, about stuff I would NEVER learn if it weren't on MetaFilter! Old science, new science, weird forms of life, neat rocks, misbehaving AI, I want it all! Tag your posts weirdscience, and feel free to share them in this thread. FILL MY LIFE WITH WEIRD SCIENCE, MEFI! [more inside]
After learning that MeFi has had some really cool themed months/weeks in the past, I've volunteered to initiate a themed week in hopes of interacting with more MeFites and contributing to the MeFi environment in a positive way. I’d love to see a week of posts about dreams. [more inside]
Apparently it's Scorpion - Scorpion - Scorpion - Crop Is On day on MetaFilter, so, y'know, post some fucken scorpions if you got 'em.
If only I had a penguin...'s Post Your Animal month was the bee's knees! Let's continue with Post Your Name month, from now until November 7, or whenever we stop. Post anything even remotely related to your username, and tag it #postyourname to capture all that plant-, abstract concept-, or inanimate object- related goodness.
So I had this wacky idea, and I'm doing it. Please join me. If you have an animal in your username, post (directly, tangentially, barely-relatedly) about your animal over the next month. Post your animal month goes from August 23 to September 23 or whenever people stop doing it. Whichever comes later. Tag #postyouranimal .
A bit over a month ago, Cozybee asked Can we do a "post something interesting from your bookmarks" month? Some folks did, and you can join in! Dig through your old links and add the tag postfromyourbookmarks.

Last week we discussed adding more color to the classic theme and we set the wheels in motion. Today those wheels are up and running. [more inside]
I understand why the podcast theme tuned changed, and the new one is super, but would it be possible to get the old podcast theme tune posted to Music? [more inside]
If you use the Modern theme in Dark Mode and would like to have Dark Mode on permanently, you can choose the Modern Dark theme in your site preferences to make that happen. [more inside]
Could an option be added to automatically enable Dark Mode? [more inside]
A lot of people have complained about FanFare's professional white background. Well, DRUNK WITH POWER after somehow kludging together a successful CSS theme for /r/MetaFilter with zero experience, I decided to try my hand at giving our new subsite a makeover, too -- the layout is fine, but that glaring white is painful to read in a darkened teevee room. Inspired by the original soothing dark blue color scheme from film/TV review aggregator Metacritic (which discarded it for an unpopular redesign years ago), I put together a complete FanFare theme (screenshot*) that adjusts not just the background and text, but stuff like visited links, link hovering, the pop-up video button and lightbox, posting page notes, live preview area, and the sidebar and Deck ad box. You can install it in Firefox (with Greasemonkey or Stylish), Chrome (with Stylish or Blank Canvas Script Handler), and jailbroken iOS (with Userscript Loader, using this URL) -- it's tested and working properly on all three. "Looks like you're searching for an exact phrase. The local search doesn't do that so well. Be sure to try your search for "_____" at Google if you don't find what you're looking for here." Perhaps it's just my colorblind eyes, but I can't see anything other than the "deep space nine" link in the notice above my search results. Is there any chance the Big Dark Bar of Highlighting could be changed to a different color so the text stands out more effectively? Thank you!
Is there any way to make the background color of one page apply to the others? Or different themes beyond default and plain? [more inside]
This came up on shuffleplay on itunes, and I'd like to suggest it as a theme song for Metafilter. Elephant Talk! [more inside]
I posted an idea here a few weeks ago, and I was just wondering if people were still up for it.
Any plans for MeFi skins/theme support? The skins are designed by the users, for example at LinkFilter.
So.... I guess this means Matt was joking, right?
Trackback is almost illiegible in the plain text theme (black text on dark blue).

Does anybody else like the "met4filter.org" kuro5hinesque color scheme better than the regular metafilter one? I sure do. Rusty, whatddyathink?
I think Metafilter is the best thing there is. When I saw the bright ,colorful, sparkling "Spooky Filter" on the home page, I realized what I have been longing for more than anything in the world: being able to choose a brighter color pattern for my personalized viewing pleasure. Am I a heretic ? Will I mercilessly burn at the stake?
