On iOS, Chrome seems to work better than Safari for very long posts.

... that is all.

Not Sure if Bug Report or Pony Request

I can't login using Lynx. Specifically, I can't get Lynx to even prompt me to accept any cookies from Metafilter, and I think I know why. The problem seems to be with when cookies expire. [more inside]

Browser/OS stats

Question (and I may have missed where this is): Metafilter is a geeky place - out of a certain curiosity, is there somewhere to get an OS/browser/whatnot stats breakdown for visitors? If not, that would be cool (even if merely in the form of a one-off FPP).

Where oh where did my little bookmark go?

Did someone here once link to a site that disables your browser temporarily? I had it bookmarked for a while, but lost it. [more inside]

Do you guys remember this cool browser thingy?

I'm looking for a Metafilter post that was about a browser ... um, application? or plug-in? or site? that featured different windows so you could drag/arrange your pages into groups by arbitrary topic or category, or work vs. leisure browsing, or whatever you wanted. Do you remember that? [more inside]

Why do I get a *fresh* AskMetafilter.com cookie when loading a YouTube page? I also get one on YouTube from Alternet.org, quantserve and scorecardresearch. The latter two are obvious. But WTF? [more inside]

greasemonkey scripts ported to Safari?

With Safari 5 supporting extensions that are very similar to greasemonkey scripts, I'm wondering if any existing MeFi-related scripts have been/are being ported over.

Tired of signing in

Whenever I quit Firefox, it loses my authentication so I have to sign into Metafilter again. It didn't always do this, but for some reason, it does now. [more inside]

Visibility of ads

I may be missing something obvious (checked previous metatalk queries) but this post has an advert in it shown in Firefox but not in IE. The advert is for www.ecological.co.uk. Is there a reason for it? I don't remember an adverts on/off feature.

leave the title attribute as-is

The amazon link-rewriting thingie seems to strip out title="foo" attributes from <a> tags which link to amazon. Would it be possible to get it to leave the title attribute as-is? I would like to (manually) add a warning to amazon links, like title="(amazon link)" or similar.

Why do I see ads when logged out, but not logged in?

I see BlogAds. No, wait a minute, I don't. How come I see the BlogAds and Google Ads when using IE6, but not Moz5 or Opera7? Do most MeFites see them or not?

Hyperlinked text weirdness

In the thread about setting suns and British empires, I made a comment to the effect of, WTF? I just didn’t understand what the discussion was about. After logging onto another computer, I finally see why. I wasn’t seeing the punch line link. In both Firefox and IE, I don’t see the hyperlinked text. This is not a problem in any other FFP. Weird; what gives?

Something changed in the past day with the front page formatting. The right hand column now seems to shove everything past the first few lines downwards...but only when you're logged in. I've tried it in both Firefox and IE.

My Comments has not appeared in the dropdown menu for a couple of days.

IE5.5, Win98. My Comments has not appeared in the dropdown menu for a couple of days. Yes, I'm logged in. I deleted internet cache & cookies earlier in the week, but was careful to keep MeFi cookies. Is it possible I accidently deleted it? If so, shouldn't new comments I've made bring the feature back? Can't figure it out, but as a wise man once said: There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Comment Preview Test

The comment preview works kind of weird for me now. When I hit the back button after seeing a comment preview (in IE 5.01), my form is empty. I could have sworn when I built and tested it, this didn't happen.

Is it just me, or is it happening to anyone else? Is anyone getting data in the comment form when they go back?
