I'm looking for someone to partner with on a project, and I would like to post it to jobs. Is it kosher to post something to jobs that is not immediately compensated, but would be paid if success was achieved?

More jobs, please! This is a request to everyone to surround the Jobs page with white light. Please post more jobs and more kinds of jobs. It would be nice to see the utility of this area grow. [more inside]

Should I post to Ask or Jobs? Long story, short explanation: I'm looking for someone who can help me understand how my small business can implement a database-driven website, and I'd potentially like to hire that same person to do a relatively small, one-time piece of work based on what I learn.

Problem A: A Metafilter Jobs post breaks the guidelines, IMO.
Problem B: I get a Cold Fusion error when flagging it as breaking the guidelines.

Gsteff posted a position at the Grameen Foundation on mefi jobs. I think that's cool. Bonus: It's to write open source software.

It'd be kind of awesome if we could see, in some generic way like "hits", how many looks our MeJobs job postings have gotten.

This does not seem like an appropriate use of the jobs section. My attempt to flag it resulted in an error.

The map portion of jobs isn't loading. The job location of this post seems to be the cause.

Trying to post three jobs to, well, Jobs. I got one posted. The "new job" link lets me fill out the form again, but no matter what I do I can't get it to post. All fields are filled, no error is being thrown. Is there a limit to the number of jobs you can post at one time?

In the Jobs section: it would be nice if closing dates for jobs was a field to be filled in and displayed within the post. Barring that, this is a request for job posters to not post something if the closing date is the very next day, as was the first posting in this post (imo, even a weeks notice is difficult, but that's more debatable). This applies especially if you have to dig to find the information.

Are there posting frequency limitations for jobs.mefi? I have two positions that just opened up, but when I click "Post" on the second one, it brings me back to the preview screen with no error message. I'm guessing it's because I justed posted one - how long do I need to wait before posting the other?

Best Job Post Ever?
ok, it would be even better if it was Ruby: job.apply(:name => 'joe coder', :skills => 'mad rubyist', :salary => '200_000') etc...

I hope this is the right place to do it... I just would like to give a great big shout-out to everyone who took time to answer my newspaper job interview and tryout questions.
I'm hired!!!
You all rock, but CunningLinguist, croutonsupafreak, frogan, M.C. Lo-Carb! and game warden to the events rhino rock lots.
Thank-you.
And thanks Mr Haughey for making a place where, within minutes, people who had the exact answers I needed were chipping in advice, reassurance and perspective from all over the world. That's pretty damn amazing. You rock too.

Expiry date for MeFi Jobs. Jobs should expire automatically after 30 days, and should not appear in the main page/map/tags after that. There should be a possibility to prolong the expiry date if necessary.

Jobs.mefi bug: Posting new, clicking 'spell check' results in: Error processing CFX custom tag "CFX_JSpellCheck". The CFX custom tag "CFX_JSpellCheck" was not found in the custom tag database.
Logged out, logged back in, same error.

Can you please list the city a job is in on the front page? It seems kind of silly to have to click every job to see if it's even in your state. Thank you.

Is there any way of knowing whether a vacancy in Jobs has been filled? Do they disappear if someone gets the job? Is there a flag?

In the time it took me to read this "job" and write this post, I could have billed them for the amount they are offering.

Hey look, it's MeFi Jobs. Use it to list jobs you'd like to hire other MeFi members for. Also, it helps if you have a lat/lon stored in your profile, as you will be able to see how far listed jobs are from you. There are probably a few obvious bugs but me and pb will do our best to squash them as fast as you can list them.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm after a large number (100-200) of participants in a future art project, and wasn't sure if AskMefi was a good place to raise the subject or not.
Is it acceptable? Would doing it here be better?
