Posting cool jobs?
I’ve been looking for jobs on and off for the past three years, and have often come across roles that look amazing - for someone who is not me! Is there any appetite for allowing Jobs subsite posts that round up links of interesting jobs, or any other part of the site where sharing them would make sense? [more inside]
Metatalktail Hour: Talktail of Shame
Phunniemee says, "Inspired by this comment, it would personally amuse me to read through a thread of dumbest / biggest screw up / most embarrassing / lols things that assorted mefite professionals have encountered doing their jobs." [more inside]
Thank you MeFi for career change advice, & coding bootcamp success story
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on this Ask post, and tell my brief success story. [more inside]
Metatalktail Hour: My dream job...
If I were to have my dream job, it would probably be a combination of writing Wikipedia articles about notable and under-appreciated people (librarians, artists, historical POC) and being the "Live Zoom link provider" person when I was watching a lecture or attending an event. "Oh hey that person mentioned their book, here's a link where you can read a review or purchase it from a non-Amazon shop." It would be great if that kind of thing paid. What sort of dream job would you like, if you're dreaming? Sky is the limit. Thank you to valkane for the suggestion. [more inside]
Searching for comment on two types of internal hires
Saw a comment earlier (ask, I think) about two types of internal job postings - one where every job was open and people had to apply for each promotion they got, and the other where job decisions were made by leaders behind closed doors and there wasn't much awareness about who was in line. Can you help me find it?
MetaWhat? MetaWho? MetaHuh?
I wanted to know what parts of this community do you sometimes forget, neglect, or outright ignore? Maybe it's lack of interest or maybe it's just something you keep forgetting exists? FanFare? Jobs? AskMeFi? Labs? Chat? Podcast? Are you only on the blue? What part of MetaFilter is pushed to the side?
Say hello to our new tech person, frimble!
I'm pleased to announce that we have found a new tech person to pick up the reins pb's setting down; I'm doubly pleased that it has worked out to be a member of the MetaFilter community, our very own frimble. Come say hello! [more inside]
Announcing More Color for the Classic Theme
Last week we discussed adding more color to the classic theme and we set the wheels in motion. Today those wheels are up and running. [more inside]
AskMefi post on Leaning Out?
I'm having trouble finding a post on the Green about jobs that are good for a mid-career professional who doesn't want to do a lot of self-promotion or leadership. I'm pretty sure it wasn't posted within the past year, and I don't recall it being one of the librarianship-specific posts on introvert-friendly careers. Is this ringing bells for anyone else?
Hiring a part-time MetaFilter moderator
Happy news: we're hiring. Specifically, a part-time, mostly-weekends US daytime moderator to help add a little wiggle room to the current daytime schedule. Take a look at the Jobs post, and drop us an application if it sounds like a good fit. [more inside]
This Pony Wants A Job
Right now, it looks like you can make unlimited posts of jobs in the "jobs" section, but you can only post one notice of availability that has to stay forever and can't be changed or added to or bumped up or otherwise flagged that "Hey, I'm still looking". Can we....do something about that? [more inside]
My Name Is [X] and I Endorse This Message
I wonder if you folks would consider adding (perhaps the option to allow) comments in posts to MeFi Jobs Members Available posts. [more inside]
Metafilter LinkedIn Group
Now that our leader has successfully added all of us to his friends list while pretending it was an accident (jk), I think it might make sense for there to be an expanded, private Metafilter LinkedIn group (not the public, totally barren one that exists now). Here's why: [more inside]
Thanks, MeFi Jobs!
There's been a lot of contention on MetaFilter lately (and MetaTalk, too), so I want to take a moment to thank Matt H. and the mods and The Programmer and all of the MetaFilter community because you guys got me my newest employee.
I can't be alone in this, and I would love to hear from other people who have found the site of value to them professionally. [more inside]
Searching for a question about becoming in love with your job again
I am having trouble relocating an AskMefi question about having a job that is fantastic in multiple ways, then sliding into becoming less invested/passionate/a good worker/working when one should be working over time, and wanting to hack oneself to appreciate said good job again. Does anyone remember or have better search skills than I do? [more inside]
New Mod Monday
It's New Mod Monday! (actually they'll filter in over the next two weeks, but anyway ...semantics!) [more inside]

Pony of Indeterminate Size: I'm not sure if we've discussed this before, but would it be okay to add a "Jobs Wanted" side to the Jobs area? [more inside]
“The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one.”
Jobsfilter. A year and a half ago, the idea of a jobseeker section for Jobs was broached, but there was no definitive response from the mods. Has there been any movement on this? This would be a wonderful addition for those Mefites who find themselves among the unemployed.
Where do I find the things I'm not allowed to straight ask for?
Is it really appropriate to ask "where to find people" to work for you on ask.mefi? [more inside]
A quick quandry about jobs
I'm looking for someone to partner with on a project, and I would like to post it to jobs. Is it kosher to post something to jobs that is not immediately compensated, but would be paid if success was achieved?
A Page for Job Seekers, Please
Pony request: can we have a place in the Jobs section for "Job Wanted" posts, please? [more inside]
We've got a network - let's use it!
More jobs, please! This is a request to everyone to surround the Jobs page with white light. Please post more jobs and more kinds of jobs. It would be nice to see the utility of this area grow. [more inside]

Where should I post this cry for professional web help?
Should I post to Ask or Jobs? Long story, short explanation: I'm looking for someone who can help me understand how my small business can implement a database-driven website, and I'd potentially like to hire that same person to do a relatively small, one-time piece of work based on what I learn.
"Flag it and move on!" "I can't!" "The override, where's the override?!?!?"
Problem A: A Metafilter Jobs post breaks the guidelines, IMO.
Problem B: I get a Cold Fusion error when flagging it as breaking the guidelines.
Grameen Foundation posts a job
Gsteff posted a position at the Grameen Foundation on mefi jobs. I think that's cool. Bonus: It's to write open source software.
I Like To See Who Likes To Watch
It'd be kind of awesome if we could see, in some generic way like "hits", how many looks our MeJobs job postings have gotten.
This job post bugs me
This does not seem like an appropriate use of the jobs section. My attempt to flag it resulted in an error.
Jobs map broken
The map portion of jobs isn't loading. The job location of this post seems to be the cause.
Jobs' spell check is buggy.
Spell check be giving me a CFM error in Jobs.
Is there a limit to the number of jobs you can post at one time?
Trying to post three jobs to, well, Jobs. I got one posted. The "new job" link lets me fill out the form again, but no matter what I do I can't get it to post. All fields are filled, no error is being thrown. Is there a limit to the number of jobs you can post at one time?
Closing Dates for Jobs
In the Jobs section: it would be nice if closing dates for jobs was a field to be filled in and displayed within the post. Barring that, this is a request for job posters to not post something if the closing date is the very next day, as was the first posting in this post (imo, even a weeks notice is difficult, but that's more debatable). This applies especially if you have to dig to find the information.
Are there limits for jobs.mefi?
Are there posting frequency limitations for jobs.mefi? I have two positions that just opened up, but when I click "Post" on the second one, it brings me back to the preview screen with no error message. I'm guessing it's because I justed posted one - how long do I need to wait before posting the other?

ok, it would be even better if it was Ruby:
job.apply(:name => 'joe coder', :skills => 'mad rubyist', :salary => '200_000')
etc...Is metafilter jobs really for medical studies?
Uh, wtf? Is this really what Jobs is for? (And I get a coldfusion error trying to flag it, which is why I didn't just flag it and move on...)
Can I post an errand in Jobs?
Appropriate to use Jobs for someone to run you an errand?
Shoutout!
I hope this is the right place to do it... I just would like to give a great big shout-out to everyone who took time to answer my newspaper job interview and tryout questions.

And thanks Mr Haughey for making a place where, within minutes, people who had the exact answers I needed were chipping in advice, reassurance and perspective from all over the world. That's pretty damn amazing. You rock too.

Jobs Expiration
Expiry date for MeFi Jobs. Jobs should expire automatically after 30 days, and should not appear in the main page/map/tags after that. There should be a possibility to prolong the expiry date if necessary.
Jobs Bug
Jobs.mefi bug: Posting new, clicking 'spell check' results in: Error processing CFX custom tag "CFX_JSpellCheck". The CFX custom tag "CFX_JSpellCheck" was not found in the custom tag database.

Job Locations
Can you please list the city a job is in on the front page? It seems kind of silly to have to click every job to see if it's even in your state. Thank you.
MetaFilter Jobs Success!
Hooray for MetaFiler Jobs! I got hundreds of inquiries from Craigslist and other job boards but ended up hiring the one (1) person who applied from this MeFi jobs posting.
