I am fairly certain the title in this case is a reference to a pre-roll discussion and so will never make any sense. Just putting that out there for anybody who would otherwise be tensed up waiting to hear the name of the movie in the movie, so to speak.

Oh yeah it was talking about the relative tree to goat populations of Randolph VT vs Portland OR.

I belive that ratio is described as TREE(GOAT).

In my home the goat to tree ratio is 1 to 1. One cat tree and one cat named Baby Goat.

I thought this would be about goats that climb trees. Which is a real thing, and a thing I've seen in real life.

(Okay, if I'm going to be totally truthful I would have to admit that the owner of the goats put them on the lower branches, and from there they made their way up. Still cool to see.)

The Machine Gun Kelly thing made me wonder if this was a time travel podcast. It's true Kathryn Kelly was pretty hot, but her husband was no slouch. But, I see there's a new guy with the same name.

I've seen goats climb fences, retaining walls, roofs, and horses. I've seen them eat trees. I've never seen them climb trees. But after ,growing up with a goat, I can believe it happens.

But, I see there's a new guy with the same name.

It's weird, right? cortex and I were discussing goat/tree ratio because around here there are always goat farmers looking for more xmas trees to eat, whereas in Portland, there might be not enough goats and a lot more trees.

I really only even know the new Machine Gun Kelly exists because of the dumb trying-to-make-fetch-happen gossip-bait stuff about him and Megan Fox that I couldn't avoid people dunking on on twitter for a bit, which has itself at this point been almost entirely displaced by people somewhat more entertainingly dunking on Julia Fox (no relation? I assume?) saying she was Josh Saftie(?)'s muse on Uncut Jaaaahms re: Kanye West? But also she also issued an explicit denial of ever having said she went into "goblin mode", which is a hell of a contemporary pop gossip LBJ moment. I know about all these things despite not caring about them at all. Help.

For some reason this episode doesn’t show up in my apple podcasts feed or app, fwiw.

Like, even under “episodes” it’s just still showing me February’s.

Huh! I wonder if there's something tripping it up in the feed item formatting or something. Will try to poke around.

WHAT HO, to you, too. :7)

Wenestvedt is my first initial and last name. Somehow, Cortex manged to pronounce my last name correctly, which is a total moonshot. Well done, sir.

And of course, to stay on-brand, I gave this whole thread a Favorite.

Out of curiosity, any chance we'll get a final podcast before cortex sails toward the horizon?

It's pretty rude to demand that busy people provide free entertainment for me, but I've really enjoyed the podcast. I'd be interested to hear about cortex's frank reflections on running the site. (If he wants to keep doing the podcast, that'd be awesome too.) But, I can understand that he might rather not say anything. If that's the case, no worries, and thanks for all the hours of fun!

If the podcast doesn't continue, I'll miss it. But, I wouldn't blame anyone for letting it go. I remain grateful and surprised that Jessamyn has continued to participate for years despite staff changes. Her insights are always interesting, as are cortex's. (Someday I suspect I'm going to meet both hosts and will try very hard to remember that we aren't actually friends and they don't know who the hell I am.)

There'll be another ep soon, for sure; busy complicated few weeks here obviously and Jess and I have both had stuff on the calendar, so it'll be later than usual.

And while I think having something change with how the podcast gets done is a good goal (and a good opportunity to explore some fun ideas), I don't have an immediate plan to ditch off it. The main thing I'd like to ditch is being responsible for producing it, which hasn't been a high priority to figure out in among everything else site-related.
