Christmas Video Marathon #11 December 22, 2024 10:19 PM Subscribe
Well, we're doing it again. Starting early morning on Dec 23 and going through to the end of Dec 25, in our video share room, MST Club presents our 11th annual Christmas Marathon. Look inside for details!
Our motto is "no stress," on either of our parts. We're here if you want to watch silly things, specials, riffing, we have lots of stuff on offer. Generally we try to show riffing in afternoons and evenings (Mystery Science Theater 3000, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic, etc.) really bad and strange stuff late at night, a variety of things in the daytime, specials in the early hours of Christmas Day, and non-Christmas things late on the 25th verging into the 26th. But we're flexible, and depending on who else is around might be open to putting in requests from our extensive library. Every year we try to cover some specific bases at some time: the four MST3K Christmas episodes, the Rifftrax for "Santa's Village of Madness" (mostly old Stinky the Skunk and Ferocious Wolf shorts for Santa's Village parks) and the fearsome Ice Cream Bunny, and the Star Wars Holiday Special at some point in the evening on the Dec 25th. Alternatively, I have a separate channel set up that plays the Star Wars Holiday Special continuously: please consume with caution.
We do this for people who are alone for Christmas and might want some companionship, people who need background while they do other things, people who are actively avoiding being around family, people who want some yuletide cheer of a generally irreverent nature, or if you just want to smoke some mistletoe and chill out watching stuff, or whatever other reason you want. You don't have to be a MeFi member, current, lapsed or ever, to join in, and welcome invitations to others so long as people behave.
This is our 11th year running. I don't have as much help doing this as I used to. Last year a couple of people offered to help this year, but as usual when people offer that kind of thing they ghost me when the time comes. Ah well. I miss the early days of the marathon sometime, especially our co-host oneswellfoop, who hasn't been seen around for a couple of years now and has likely passed away. But I keep the torch aflame, the star lit, and the eggnog noggin'. Let's have a happy holiday, even considering everything that's happened, is happening, and will happen soon.
Previous years: 2023 - 2022 - 2021 - 2020 - 2019 - 2018 - 2017 - 2016 - 2015 - 2014

This has been a huge treat for me over the years, as I have variously been in several of the groups you mention. Thank you so much.
