Poni request
So, I made an FPP. Immediately after I hit Post, I noticed a glaring spelling error. There does not seem to be an edit window for posts that have been posted. I find this unfotunate. Can there be an edit window for them?

NorCal fire check-in
I am not in California but all my colleagues and friends are. Please let's have a place for MeFites to share their experiences of the Kincade Fire and others.
Stay safe and be smart! People before things, for sure. My boss may lose his beautiful home and stayed until the mandatory evacuation was called - be less stubborn!

AskMess
Today I posted an AskMe question. So far, half of the suggestions have been deleted as noise. The mods probably did the best job they could of cleaning this mess up, but I wonder if this could be a good opportunity to reflect as a community on how we might be able to lower the frequency of answers that did not meet the criteria laid out in the question.

Metatalktail Hour: (Spooky) Open Thread!
Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! π» This week, open thread! But a slightly spooky open thread, full of ghosts! π»π»π» Naw, not really, just spooky in the Halloween mood. π»
non-ascii tags in posts
Small pony/nitpick: I tried to add a tag to my post about the Chilean protest movement with the text 'PiΓ±era', the name of the president we're protesting against, and the system says:
One of your tags couldn't be added because it contained non-ASCII characters or punctuation.
It's 2019, we can handle unicode in tags and shouldn't assume the wide variety of human experience can be reduced to 26 letters.

π₯π³π₯ MetaBreakfast π₯π₯£π©
End of another week, let's talk about something not related to politics. Let's chat about breakfast. What is your favorite type of breakfast food? Are you a fan of cereal? If so, what kind? Or maybe you're more into oatmeal. Are you an eggs, bacon/sausage, toast kind of person? Do you like maple syrup on your pancakes? Bagels? How about breakfast for dinner? Or maybe you do not conform to these types of predictable conventions and just eat whatever you want? What about pizza? Or steak? Or noodles? If you hate breakfast and generally skip it, feel free to talk about that too. Love it or hate it, let's talk about breakfast. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. Cheers.

Allow "push back" comments to stand
In light of the deletion of a Metafilter comment that pushed back against a racist comment in the Frank Ocean thread, I am requesting that the community discuss the benefits of allowing "push back" comments to stand - especially when those comments are insightful, enlightening and challenge other Mefites to be better members of the community. "Books Included" tags on sequels/screen universe expansions
While I understand the intent and intended consideration behind using the "Books Included" tag on the post for the debut episode of HBO's Watchmen, I don't think it actually makes sense and likely sets a precedent for increasingly complicated use of spoiler tags for show discussion. [more inside]

Is there a specific candy from a certain part of the world that you crave that you wish you had access to? As always, be kind to yourself and others. Cheers.

Metafilter sighted on Worst Year Ever
Frequent MeFi favorite podcaster Robert Evans (Behind the Bastards, It Could Happen Here) recently kicked off a new podcast, Worst Year Ever, touching on the horrors of the upcoming US federal election. While opening Tuesday's episode on Biden, Evans' co-host Cody Johnston raised eyebrows about Jake Tapper's recent collaboration with MeFi unfavorite Scott Adams. To describe what sort of man Adams is, Evans cheerfully launched into a description of the 2011 incident in which Adams was caught using a sockpuppet to defend himself after the Blue responded poorly to one of his pieces. MeFi mentioned at 3:00. [more inside]
Brexit threads for those being Brexited on
The current Brexit thread is due to close soon, and it's gone OK, but I'd like to suggest a few ground rules so that the people who need the thread most can get the most out of it. Mainly, I'd like the thread to centre the needs of everyone resident in the UK and Ireland, with space for the frustrations of people in the rest of the EU, too. [more inside]
Blueberry supplement and?
Either on Ask or maybe...twitter? In the last week someone commented about taking either blueberry+choline or blueberry+inositol to stave off sugar cravings. Does anyone either know of this comment or know about this supplement? Thanks.

Metatalktail Hour: Animal Encounters
Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, mygothlaundry says: "My aunt used to say, 'everyone has a mouse or rat story. Everyone has a snake story. And everyone has a bug story.' I have found this to be true and I would add that everyone has at least one unwelcome wildlife encounter story and often one welcome one." What are your welcome and unwelcome wildlife encounter stories? [more inside]

π§π¦ MetaSpookyFilms π»π
End of another week, let's talk about scary films. We're just a few 'spooky' weeks away from All Hallows' Eve. What are your favorite scary films? Do you have certain movies that you watch every year as a tradition? Have you discovered something new recently? Are you more into classic movie monsters like The Mummy, Dracula, Frankenstein? Or maybe you're into more modern franchises such as Paranormal, The Purge, Conjuring? Are you on Team Freddy or Team Jason? I'd also love to hear some horror reccomendations from other (non-western) countries around the world, films from Asia and Africa that aren't frequently a part of this conversation. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. Boo!
