The Great Metafilter Request Raffle hove out of town, leaving a trail of happy requestors and celebrated musicians, as the deadline drew in yesterday. The musical trail it leaves behind ranges from the delightful unexpected to extreme aural oddity. [more inside]

Back in June everyone was invited to cover a song from Radiohead's OK Computer for the July '12 MeFi Music Challenge #58. (Music Talk thread) Over the past 2 months—the challenge was extended at the end of July—48 songs were recorded covering the entire album and even one excellent B-side. So much about this challenge excited me, like recording and submitting my first (second, and sort-of third!) Music tracks. And I love Radiohead, so. But this part, where I pick my favorite cover version of each song on the album and build my perfect MeFi Music tribute, OK MetaFilter, that's the part I've really been looking forward to. Come inside for links to playlists for each track of the album so you can build yours too. [more inside]
Back on June 8, the Metafilter Music Challenge announcement was made: cover an assigned track from Radiohead's OK Computer. Lotsa folks signed on. Now it's August 1st, deadline is passed. Check out the 46 submissions that came in!

I wanna pony: When I made this comment a few minutes ago, I wish I could've linked directly to the playlist and description of the June 2009 Metafilter Music Challenge, as opposed to one page that contains all the Previous Challenges, and therefore necessitates scrolling down through what will become an ever-increasing list. Would it be possible to set up links to each month of Challenge results, so they could be linked to separately?

With the new year around the corner, and recently noticing that Mefites have burned 490,834 calories, traveled 2,364 miles, and lost 378 pounds, I figure it's a good time to ask: Is there interest in some sort of MetaFilter weight loss/exercise challenge? (Meta-fitter? Har. Har. Sorry.) [more inside]

I am new to Nike+iPod, and am having fun with it, but I don't know anyone else who has it so I have no one to challenge. What say we (and by "we" I mean you, if you have Nike+iPod and are willing to play along) list our screennames in this thread?
jonmc has inspired me. in thread a while back, he recommended i read a book as a sort of "this is what i think about what we disagree about" retort. i have been thinking about it, and i do intend to get the book (from the library), but only on the condition that he do likewise for me. and then i thought, maybe i could invite some of our more famous meta-adversaries to participate in something like... a sort of tit-for-tat book exchange in the spirit of understanding each others' points of view.
Last year and the year before, in May, jbushnell started a MetaFilter thread asking what the coolest thing you could find on the web for X amount of dollars was, and offered to buy the thing he himself deemed "the coolest". jbushnell hasn't contributed to MetaFilter since last October, and May is just about over, so I doubt he plans to show up to post this challenge again.
