After I updated my iPhone to iOS4, the "skip to menu" link at the top of the pages of the mobile site no longer works after a page has been reloaded.

A follow up on
this post. I saw there were a few members that had sailed on SS France / SS Norway / SS Blue Lady and thought they might want to grab a
souvenir.

I'd rather not clutter up nickyskye's
Mango post with this question, but I've noticed that the FSI Language Course site Vacapinta
mentioned in the thread (
here, previously) is inaccessible. Does anyone know if the site is down for good?

We have box sets. Slashdot has the goods on Amazon trying to give flashbacks to MetaFilter with their new and improved pricing shenanigans in which they deliver two box sets to lots of people for the price of zero, wait a five days (crossing over Christmas in the process), and then demand that people return them unopened. Now they've begun charging people's credit cards for what Amazon decides they should have paid.

previously on mefl here, but the content is old and that link dead so I thought it was worth another post.
As meehawl points out, we've discussed Aphex Twin infinitely. If an old link breaks, is it best to send a message to jessahowie to update it, rather than dredging it back up on the front page?

Can we get a redo? mickeyz just screwed up his post and put the body text where the title was supposed to go. Instead of deleting it outright, can one of our benevolent overlords repair it and put it back? It's a legitimate FPP, otherwise.

I run a project called
MemoryWiki that collects and archives personal memories. I was wondering if I could repost some short memoirs from MetaFilter, namely, those on "life changing experiences" found here
here. I will of course include a note on every memoir I repost stating that the source is Metafilter (and I'll include a hyperlink). MemoryWiki is non-profit (it's really just a hobby). Is this kosher? Thanks.

The first two links in
this thread don't work. One is a geocities page that has exceeded its bandwidth, the other just never loads for me. Hoping to get alternates - I like the post.

The links in the New Orleans Photo Essay post, linked in the sidebar, don't work anymore. Can the post be edited with a new URL for the photo album? If not, should the link be removed from the sidebar?

Trying to find a copy of the video of the insecure/incompetent (student) weatherman from
this thread. It's dead (and I searched thru many pages of compfused). Anyone got a copy/link?

With all the recent talk of Anonymous Questions on AskMe, I thought I'd learn me some php, and create a supplementary website where people can pose anonymous questions to be asked on AskMe by the more brazen metafilter members. I guess that this falls under the "Don't self link" rule, so I hope you'll forgive the intrusion.

Ask Me Anonymous

FineIllGetMyOwnDamnPonyFilter - A couple days ago I became cranky that AskMe didn't have several features I felt were vital to making it work right - A keyword/topic search, categories, an area to summarize the answers, a way for the poster to sum things up, a moderation system so that quality rises to the top, a way to find if my question has already been asked, etc. I'm sure Matt will build this stuff eventually, or not. So I decided to build it myself. [more inside]

Sorry in advance.
Is anyone planning on attending

Is Mefi talking to
Kinja? I just checked my Kinja feed page and it hasn't been updated much, but I visited the blue and ten new threads have appeared. Is it because Kinja isn't updating properly or something else?

One would think that
sicknick.org would be the ideal link for MeFi. Nikahang Kowsar isn't quite mainstream, so a lot of people haven't seen his stuff before. His stuff is very interesting, and should warrant discussion. AND YET...! [more]

Metafilter spotting. I was slow to post this, thinking someone would ahve already picked it up.. while I like the props for 'strikingly literate commentary', the representative link is not *really* representative. (In my opinion)...

The
results of Steve_at_Linnwood's small-sample MeFi census are online. Of more amusement value than scientific, of course. I thought
this chart was particularly interesting in its lack of a middle ground.

I couldn't find a link to
this anywhere, and I think it's a great tool, if, like me, you are crap at web design (in the limited sense of making all the pretty colours harmonize) but still like to fiddle around a bit with it. Hope you find it useful.

This is interesting. Postroad's post had a bad link and other members went searching for an appropriate link. And finally they
did find one which seems to fit perfectly(Good work,
Tubes and
Real9!)
I had a link too, but hesitated, as I didn't know whether this would be intruding on Postroad's post. How could I tell it was my link he was thinking of? Is it ethical or just Darwinian to provide a FPP's
missing link?
So - is it right to "find a link" by proxy, based on a post's wording? (
FWIW, I think it's acceptable, but strange).
We all know people who post to the FP should check that their links work. But shouldn't they also hang around for an hour or so to see if any there are any solvable problems?
