Metatalktail Hour: 🍪
Hello, everyone, and happy weekend! Today I'm going to need you to tell me about the cookies. Not the tracking ones, the girl scouts / girl guides ones. It's that season, and in the US, a new flavor will be released this week. It's called Raspberry Rally, it will only be available online (why?), and apparently it was inspired by Thin Mints. I'm so curious! Early tasters must report back! [more inside]

Moderation Log
I’d like to open a discussion about the possibility of a public moderator log that would record all moderation activities on the site. [more inside]

Metatalktail Hour: The cheapest, but the best
Happy weekend, friends, I hope you are warm, or cool, as the case may be, and feeling rested! This week I'd like to ask you about your beloved items that you can't do without, but which are also quite inexpensive ... and just work better than the pricier varieties. [more inside]

Open Gaming Thread: What are you playing right now?
Let's talk video-games, board-games, mobile games, mind-games, etc. What are you playing right now? :-)
Best of the Web anniversaries and transcripts
1. The first podcast episode was posted on February 16, 2007! Happy 16th anniversary / birthday to the podcast!
2. I just finished running the last / first episode through otter.ai for an automated transcript, so *every* episode now has a transcript! So. Many. Transcripts.
3. I joined two days after that first episode!
Just, you know. Woot!

Proposal: creation of a MetaFilter ombuds
I'd like to present for discussion by the MetaFilter community the proposal that we establish an official ombudsperson role, to act as a non-moderator community representative when questions about specific moderation decisions arise. [more inside]

191: Thoroughly insinuated into the normalcy of our life
More or less on time! New theme song! We talk about heating up water and heating up ourselves. cortex read a lot of MetaFilter this month, Jessamyn's still reading old FanFare threads. Runs about 82 minutes. [more inside]
Metatalktail Hour: Super strix kicks
Happy Superb Owl weekend everyone! 🦉 What fun activities do you have planned? Any burrowing, hooting, screeching, flapping or gliding in the offing? What tasty tidbits will you be hunting down and devouring? Will you be with your parliament homies, or flying solo? Whooo doesn't love this holiday?! <3

What have you done this decade that you're proud of?
I was reading through old favorites tonight and found this post and it's mooshy-happy.
I still haven't hit the daily limit for favorites. Is there one?

Another Thing For the Book Of Conflicts
We have had several lower-stakes conduct debates over the years - about things like whether cereal is soup, or the proper order for putting on socks and shoes, or whether you sit or stand to wipe after using the toilet, among many others. A new one has emerged in AskMe - are you an ingredients person or nah? [more inside]

Metatalktail Hour: Unsolicited advice, please
Happy weekend, everyone! If you're a Mefite, you've probably found a lot of valuable tips on the site, especially in Ask Metafilter, but those threads are usually focusing on a specific problem or situation. Today I'd like to ask you to share your random tips and tricks about anything at all (that's fit to print!). If it's something you've found handy or helpful, if it makes life easier, faster, neater, nicer, or just more fun, please share! [more inside]

Sharing and Over-sharing
We've had a couple of threads about Lastpass: the news of the breach and an ask for alternatives. It's pushed my buttons as being across the line into "don't show your dirty laundry in public."
I get that we build community by sharing info about ourselves, it's why I like a MetaTalkTail Hour and the Free Threads. Recommending a password manager by dint of your personal experience also serves to tell the world how you secure your online activity. [more inside]

Wonderful meta comment riffing on Bradbury’s automated house?
It’s a wonderful take on Bradbury’s There Will Come Soft Rains, in a post about automating AskMe question posting. It’s so good and I cannot find it on google site search or on the site itself. Thank you!

Editorialising on the blue?
I was under the impression that too much personal input or editorialising is discouraged when making metafilter posts, posts are supposed to be fairly neutral. But I don't actually see this in any of the guidelines.
Did I imagine this? [more inside]
