Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, gryphonlover wants to know your favorite concert! Ones you watched, ones you performed, ones you heard about from your dad; rock, jazz, classical, anything! Let's hear about the live music you love. [more inside]
End of another week, let's talk about something else that is not related to politics. I want to hear about your favorite musical(s). Broadway, Off-Broadway, live-action adaptation, film adaptations of stage musicals, etc. Who are your favorite singers/performers/entertainers? Do you have any specific songs that you like to put on repeat? Have you memorized the soundtrack? Do you sing them in your car or shower? Let's talk about a few of our favorite things. As always, be kind to yourself and to others.
On a touchscreen (iPhone XS portrait mode), about half the time I try to favourite a comment, I end up clicking through to the list of who’s favourited it. I don’t *think* I have particularly fat fingers... do other folks run into this? Any chance of adding an extra em of space there on mobile?
This is the 5th in a series of Hyucking Hyuck threads, for riffing, joking, and misc. non-hollerin' overflow from politics discussion on the blue. If it breaks up the flow in a politics discussion, this is a better place for it. [more inside]
Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, I'd like to know, if you could go anywhere in the world that you haven't been yet, where would you like to go? [more inside]
End of another week, let's talk about something else that is not related to politics. Let's talk about coffee. Do you like it? Hate it? Love it? Is it something you struggle with? Is a vice or indulgence? Dark, medium or lightly roasted? Milk and/or sugar? Or do you take it black? Do you grind your own beans? French press, pour over or drip? Starbucks or Dunkin? Beanplating is of course, acceptable. As always be kind to yourself and others.
Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, jessamyn wants to know "What is underground where you are?" [more inside]
We're rolling out a test of a revamped front page for FanFare, that we're hoping folks will find a lot more useful as a starting point to find media and conversations you're interested in on the subsite. Come on in for the details! [more inside]
Nearing the end of another week, let's talk about something else that is not related to politics. Tell me about your upcoming plans. Are you planning a vacation? Heading out on a road-trip? Camping, hiking, laying on the beach? Any festivals or concerts you're looking forward to? Maybe it's a stay-cation and you're exploring something local or maybe it's a trip to the other side of the world? Are you soloing it or maybe you have a family, friend, or loved one accompanying you? Or maybe you're just working and doing your day to day thing. Either way, feel free to share your upcoming holiday plans. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. Cheers.
I am trying to cut social-media-style dopamine hits out of my life as much as I can, and I have noticed myself checking in more than I'd prefer on my "Favorited by Others" count, and clicking through to see what comments I've made that are getting lots of favorites. I'd rather not do this, but it's a longstanding habit at this point, and it's been surprisingly difficult to kick it. Would it be possible to add a preference to hide the count and link? Latest venting thread now open as there is much to vent about. Gentle members, pray begin your cries of woe within.
For this Euro time shift edition of Metatalktails we want to tiptoe into your dreams and ask you to tell us something you feel like sharing about your adventures with Queen Mab. Have you ever had repetitive or serial dreams? Do you have special themes that recur in your dreams? Have you ever solved a problem or puzzle by dreaming the solution? Have you ever been a different person in a dream? Ever had a dream come true? [more inside]
Nearing the end of another week, let's talk about something else that is not related to politics. What are you having for dinner? Feel free to share a recipe or photos. Are you eating out? Leftovers? Cooking something easy and fast? Or fancy and complicated? Or maybe you're changing it up and trying something new? What's for dinner, I want to know. As always, be kind to yourself and to others. Cheers.

A while back there was a data point raised in a thread that said, women only need to speak for something like 17% of the time for it to be perceived that they have spoken for 50% of the time. Can you help me find this post/comment and/or point to relevant research around it? [more inside]
It's time for that monthly podcast: jessamyn and I caught up yesterday on the last month or so of all things MetaFilter, Ask MetaFilter, Projects, and so forth through the ol' enumeration of subsites. We also talk about trivia a little, and as a result I ruin taiga and possibly everything else. We also got to wondering whether Jeopardy would throw you off the show for refusing to answer questions in good faith, so, hey, Jeopardy folks: any good stories there? [more inside]

Good Saturday evening, MetaFilter! This week, Glinn wants us to do "that thing where people post photos of their desk," which is always one of my favorite ones! (Show us your desk, show us your purse, show us your favorite piece of art -- all aces.) So show us your desk/work area! Or if you don't want to take a photo, tell us about your favorite desk/work accessory, be it tool or decor or whatever! [more inside]
