Deleted Thread
WCityMike got me thinking with his recent thread. I like deleted thread. Frankly I think its uniqueness constitutes BOTW. So...would it violate the rules to do a blue post about it? (AFAIK no one has yet)
I'm sorry about my post

I freely admit that this post of mine was not outstanding
I freely admit that this post of mine was not outstanding. But, even though Sandwichgirl had been linked to on MeFi before, that was over two years ago, and this was something unusual even for her.
Let me google that for you
Should questions like this be deleted?
Missing MeTa
I have never seen a completely disappeared MeTa post before today. Given what passes for normal on MetaTalk, I fear that there must have been a truly unspeakable horror contained within it to merit this special handling. Do I walk on dangerous ground, merely speaking that post's name? If so, I take it all back, I saw nothing, there never was a thread 1347... what was that number again? I forget now.
Save My Deleted AskMe
I'm guessing the chances are pretty slim, but I would like to see about getting one of my questions on ask. un-deleted.
I posted This question last night, and woke up this morning to see it was deleted. For this reason "doesn't sound like any problem to be solved, rather some idle 'what if' curiosity"
I've never had one deleted, and I feel it does not violate any of the things mentioned in the FAQ. To quote the FAQ:
Put another way "...if your motivation for asking the question is 'I would like to participate in a discussion about X,' then you shouldn't be doing it in AskMe. If your motivation is 'I would like others to explain X to me,' then you're probably OK."
I was simply interested in how the physics of it worked, and what would happen. I only posted once in my own thread, and that was to answer a question about thresholds.

three-letter word for a male cat and a five-letter word for a sea-faring vacation
We recently had a MetaTalk thread regarding a three-letter word for a male cat and a five-letter word for a sea-faring vacation. I won't protest the thread's deletion; the entire site exists at the administration's discretion. What concerns me, however, are the Orwellian implications of deletion with no residual record in a community-based site.
Four questions about deleted posts
Having suffered the ignominy of my first ever (undoubtedly deserved) deleted post, I have four questions:
1. What's the record for deleted posts from one user?
2. How many users have themselves ever been deleted / indefinitely suspended?
3. Is it possible to delete your own account in protest, and has anyone ever done it?
4. Do mathowie and jessamyn have the power to delete each others' posts?

AskMe Deletions
Edumacate me. Why are AskMe questions deleted in two distinct ways? For example, why is this one still visible but not this one?
Again with the quick hook
Again with the quick hook on a chatfilter judgment call?
I don't think Lucy's question should have been deleted
After much careful consideration, I don't think Lucy's question should have been deleted.
Why did my post get deleted....
AskMe peoplesearch diceyness
You can run, but you can't hide.
Maddox is verboten
Maddox is verboten? Why? I mean, this was the first thing the guy had written on his site for four months... it's hardly like he gets posted here all the time.
Deletion Reason
I find the deletion reason for this thread to be insulting and in poor taste. Why not use your time instead to fix up your server, which has been slow and unresponsive for the past few days?
Searching for Deleted Posts
To help avoid multiple re-posts, wouldn't it be helpful to be able to find the deleted posts in a search? At least it would be a little easier to find than the single instance post.
Why was this deleted?
Why was this deleted?
Why was this question deleted?
why? I was looking forward to reading this one and had marked it as a favorite (as had others). Do we have to explain why we ask each and every question now?
Was there a torrent site link deleted from this thread?
Was there a torrent site link deleted from this thread? It seems kind of inconsistent to link to a streaming site but not a torrent site, both are just as infringing. Also, do we still need the warning about Israel/Lebanon on the posting page? The war has been over for a while.
What happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post?
Forgive my ignorance, but what happened to the Dawkins/Atheist post? I was enjoying the article over lunch and when I popped back to the front page, it was gone. Was it a double?
A small question about metafilter deleting posts.
A small question about metafilter deleting posts. Why so hasty? Why so abrupt? Perhaps we, as a online community, should define more precisely *exactly* the demographic metafilter, as a business, seeks to appeal toward. Posts on metaTalk get deleted before I can even put a more in depth explaination. What is going on here?
Searching for Deleted Posts
Dare I ask this but due to the deleted post in this MeFi post being so damn funny I'm wondering if there's a way to search for just deleted posts on MeFi?
How does admin justify keeping this post about Gitmo but deleting this one about Chechnya?

Yes, I realize I contributed to the Gitmo thread. But one newsfilter deserves another, right?

Why was my answer on AskMe deleted?
A few weeks ago, I left an answer on this post. I went back to look at it again, and it's gone. It wasn't rude, it wasn't abusive, it didn't contain foul language or untruths.
It was a criticism of previous advice, but it was, I believe, a legitimate criticism. Frankly, I think it should still be there - no one else has made a similar point, and someone needed to.
I know that people will turn around and say 'this is Matt's site, we shouldn't complain...' - but I don't buy it. This site would be nothing without the community. And this sort of arbitrary moderation makes me much more reluctant to contribute to that community.
I'm not the most prolific member, I may not be a loss, but if it can happen to me...

Boo, my Askme question was deleted.
Boo, my Askme question was deleted. I'm disappointed, because I did mean the question seriously-- I was actually hoping to get some scientific information/insight into radioactive half-lives, heavy-metal contamination, global warming, etc. Was the tone too flippant? Could I have phrased it better?
moderated? and yet remains?

Innocuous Comments Being Deleted in askme
AskMe deletions, again. I know it's annoying to hear us all complain about deletions constantly, but it seems like a lot of innocuous comments are getting axed. I understand not insulting the poster, or making just "wisecracks" (which in my mind are by definition at the expense of the poster) but does every bit of human interaction that doesn't quite solve the question -- but does engage with the poster in a respectful way -- need to go?

Deletion question
Why did baby-stealing across the ages get deleted? I can read the reason given, but it isn't fair to the question.
Request that mods sign off on who deleted posts
When posts are deleted and mentioned in MeTa we see something like: "This post was deleted for the following reason: This is way too open-ended. Try again next week with something specific and more focused."
Sometimes it's obviously Matt doing the deleting and sometimes obviously Jess, but as in this example I can't tell and it drives me nuts! Could you guys initial off on these things or something? (It doesn't matter but drives me nuts filter.)

Why was this deleted as "chatfilter" while countless indistinguishable threads weren't? [more inside]
Chatfilter and consistency in moderation
I'm sure this invites a pile-on, but I thought this question in askme was thought provoking and was looking forward to discussion and comment, but it got deleted as "chatfilter." How much more worthy were this or this?
Is there no room on metafilter for fun?
I noticed all of Eideteker's "APRIL FOOLS!" comments were deleted. Is there no room on metafilter for fun?
why was my comment deleted
Can whoever deleted my comment in this thread explain why it was deleted with no explanation and other similar comments remain?

RSS bug-a-boos
1. Deleted MetaTalk threads still show up in RSS (example)
2. MetaTalk RSS includes titles for threads, but the actual thread only uses the post number for a title. Discuss.

Chatfilter or Not?
I assume this question was deleted for being chatty, but what if it had been: "Can you name some scenes in film that feature popular songs where the on-screen characters actually sing along or otherwise interact with the music? I'm putting them together for a project etc etc....". Is everything on AskMe a "problem" looking for a solution?

Greasemonkey Consistency
Question about deleted threads (not one I created or want to whine about though, I promise!).
I've got a greasemonkey script that shows links to the deleted posts in the style of (for example) "Deleted thread: 48604". Most of these links are valid and show the threads, but some go to a page that says the thread was deleted. Why the two different results?

Why is an answer in AskMe deleted when it contains an informative comment, followed by some humor?
Why is an answer in AskMe deleted when it contains an informative comment, followed by some humor?
This seems a tad unfair, since lots of comments are not deleted which contain exactly the same mix of a comment, followed by humor.
I'd link to my answer, but I don't know where it is.....Here's the question.
How do I know who's deleted my comment? Appeals? How does one gain such Godlike powers?
Also: is there a place to find deleted comments on AskMe so at least I can save my late night ramblings

Who's had a post, comment or thread deleted on Mefi?
Who's had a post, comment or thread deleted on Mefi? As I was posting to a MetaTalk item, it had already been deleted - this isn't new. Post/thread deletions are getting all too common here on the blue. Trolling, flame-outs, newsfilter posts and other lame FPP's seem to garnish enough merit to remain active in 'big brothers' eyes so I ask you, have you been edited on the blue and if so, what was it you said?
I know I've said some stupid shit that I wished I could have pulled but I don't think I want the Mefi police deciding that for me.

I hate to push something more important off the front page for this, but I think this thread about the deleted-post bookmarklet was closed prematurely. [MI]
