Is it really six months since the last Sheffield UK meet-up? Well then, it must be time for another.

I'm living in Birmingham (Sutton Coldfield) until May, and would like to meet some local mefites. I'm going to see Autechre at The Rainbow Pub in Digbeth on Friday, the 12th of March. How about a meetup earlier that evening, somewhere near the bullring?

People from Britain are bad. Or maybe people from America are bad. I can't decide which is worse.
Some recent posts about US vs UK have me worried that the moderators will be in the same position as those trying to broker peace between Arabs and Israelis.
Wars have already been fought over this.

Hastings Meetup pics.
My camera battery died on Saturday afternoon, so these are from Friday night and Saturday morning. Many more photos were taken by other attendees.
A good time was had by all.

When is the best time for a UK mefite to post in Askme for a quick response. I'd assume this would involve establishing the area/timezone the majority of me-fites are in and when they logon / read and respond. Where are you and when do all y'all "check in" or do your posting?
(And should this be an Askme question?!)

London meetup. Let's make it happen! I arrive tomorrow, 27 Sept.
(note proper continental date form), and leave on 3 Oct. I'm spoken for on the evening of the 28th and during the day of the 1st, but other than that, I'm open to suggestions. I'm staying around the East End, if that's relevant.

I've really enjoyed reading and participating in the
coverage the UK general election has received at MetaFilter, particularly the
follow-up threads (which, in one case, might otherwise have been dismissed as news filter). Contrasting points of view expressed intelligently and with measure. Well done.

Mefi London meetup disappeared from this page within 24 hours, due to a load of navel-gazing posts to MeTalk. Here's a reminder: P_G wants it to be Vaguely Competent this time, OK?
PS: I suggest Friday 25th March: venue - that's up to you.

Any Mefites going to
NotCon '04 this Sunday? On the subject of a
UK gathering, the
poll currently shows a plurality in favour of "some other Saturday", with Friday 25th June coming in second. I propose to close the poll today, so hurry up & vote!

MeFi London then? I have the organisational skills of a Pickled Herring, so hopefully someone else will have all the ideas ... just testing the water to see if anyone else is interested.

The question (raised
here) is one of tensions, etiquette and policy on Election posts. The Uk is currently going through an election, and much like the US is fairly well represented on Metafilter. But we all know how many posts were about the US election and how frustrating both the US contingent, but more specifically the UK contingent, were with them. Will UK election threads cause international tensions? Is this a bad thing? Is there a 'right to post' issue here, or are we going to be having a fully international vs UScentric discussion at any moment?
