Old Post on Journals and Diaries

I'm looking for a post I saw some years ago on Metafilter. It was about a library or institution that was collecting diaries and journals kept by ordinary (not famous) people. I've been unable to find searching on the site and was hoping someone here recalled it or could find it. Thank you!

Where is star trek episode ii eggs

Somewhere either on the blue or green someone linked to a YouTube video of a 6 year old playing with their star trek action figures. Spock is wearing an apron. Kirk goes on a mission to trade a hash brown for some eggs. Everyone is in a band. I quote it daily. [more inside]

Looking for a post about an awesome judge

I am looking for a post I saw a while ago- maybe last summer? Maybe before? In the last five years, probably the last two years. It was about an American judge, an older white man, who was fairly conservative, absolutely demolishing the arguments of a lawyer against.. gay marriage? Some form of gay rights? This judge is known for doing this sort of thing. I think he's a fairly high placed judge somewhere in the middle of America. Thanks!

Spades? Poker? Cheap wine?

I'm looking for an old comment/FPP about an academic playing cards and drinking with some old friends in the projects (or an otherwise troubled urban area). [more inside]

Post about memory and narcissism?

Can you please help me find an old post about people who at first seemed to have incredible memories, but were later found to be just really self-obsessed? [more inside]

Want to play now that my computer's better

Old post filter: trying to find a post from within the past two years or so that featured a very weird little game. All I remember was that the animation was VERY high-quality (the game took a really long time to load on the computer I had at the time), and I want to say that the animation for while the game was loading featured a sheep on a hamster wheel. So what brings you to post 117949?

Is it cool to ask people why they are discovering a post or comment months after it was made? [more inside]

Help me help myself by helping me!

Trying to remember an old post I THINK was on MeFi: basically a Japanese site with photos of unintentionally funny road signs. It was all in Japanese, and the one photo I can remember specifically had a "STOP" written along the center line of the road, so that the トマレ became トマレーーーーーーーー ("STOOOOOOOOOOOOP"). Does… does this ring a bell with anyone at all?

where the heck are you, elusive post?

I have been searching in vain for a semi-recent post which asked for examples of films where a character is considered interesting specifically because of his or her illness. All my search skills have led to nothing (as is typical every time I search for a past post on Metafilter---what on earth am I doing so blasted incorrectly?) Can someone kindly locate that post? I am reasonably sure I did not hallucinate it.

Andrew WTF

Wasn't there an FPP not too long ago linking to an interview in which Andrew WK admits he's a constructed personality played by several different guys? I seem to remember a lot of discussion and digging about it. [more inside]

Help me find a graph linked to on metafilter somewhat recently

Within the past few months someone posted a link to either a graph or (an article containing a graph) that showed that GDP calculated within a few months of the time period in question bears no relation (no statistical correlation) to GDP calculated with more complete non-estimated data two years down the line. I would like to find this graph. [more inside]

Looking for an old post.

Here or AskMeFi?

i'm not sure if i should post this here or ask mefi, but i'm looking for an old post that i found around Thanksgiving.

It was a blog and/or humorous editorial about Thanksgiving in the White House. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and/or know where I can find it?
I've searched for keywords and searched the tags, but i'm just not finding it.

Self appointed sanctimonious MeFi gods/censors

I am struck by the amount of clutter which is created by apparently self appointed sanctimonious MeFi gods/censors. Comments on etiquette, self promotion etc are constructive, however what on earth (other than self promotion) is achieved by pointing out that you have seen something before or that it doesn't interest you. So what? I would have no interest whatsoever in a post linking to a 1973 article about bestiality amongst jazz lovers but that is just me and I am not small minded enough to pontificate against those who want to follow this particular hobby. The one thing I can conceive of that would be more tedious than reading the article would be wading through "old link - I've seen it before" or "this is boring". This is hypocrisy gone mad.
Anyone else?
