The BlogRoots sidebar (over there -->) has become enormously long thanks to an entry with very wide margins.
Several page errors on loading the blue
Surely I am not the only one noticing an unusual number of errors when trying to load pages from the blue side:
The request has exceeded the allowable time limit Tag: cfoutput
The error occurred in C:\metafilter sites\www.metafilter.com\header.cfm: line 189
Called from C:\metafilter sites\www.metafilter.com\front.mefi: line 149

What were these links?
What were these links? In the Richard Perle in Guardian Shock! thread, specialk420 posted three links... all of them are mysteriously dead now.... Does anyone know what they were?
midas - ok... let me get this straight - the world is full of bad bogeymen that we have to do something about now.

one doozy of a page
I got sent here in trying to find the post on stupid baby names, and got one doozy of a page as a result. Does this look extremely messed-up to the rest of you? I'm on Netscape 7.0 on Mac OS 9.
stupid "smartquotes" in this thread are breaking Metafilter's RSS feed
It looks like the stupid "smartquotes" in this thread are breaking Metafilter's RSS feed (or at least Syndirella's ability to parse it).
A clean, responsible, and non-snarky way to deal with a funged link
Thanks sebas. A clean, responsible, and non-snarky way to deal with a funged link for the benefit of the community.
Is the anti doublepost code broken?
Another unclosed italics tag
Rats. I tried to post a link in all italics (with apologies to DaveAdams), and ended up italicizing everything. I realize that this has happened before and apologize for this breech in link editing.
Is there a way for a user to edit one of their own links after posting without having to bother Matt?

Your html done broke
Huh? How'd he do that, Willis?
Can't comment
Can't comment on Metafilter prime. Mozilla 1.1b. I get "Comment Preview:" but no comment box. It works in Metatalk however. I eventually had to resort to the evil IE to post a followup comment.
navigating 'back' or 'forward', directed to the 'Third Birthday' page
Using IE5.0, navigating 'back' or 'forward' to homepage results in being directed to the 'Third Birthday' page. Crazy frustrating. Am I the only one?

Is anyone else having trouble posting comments today?
Is anyone else having trouble posting comments today, IE5/Mac, the preview works, and when I hit post, nothing happens?? Got rid of my cookies and relogged in, still does not work, any suggestions?
Bad article, bad link, bad post.
Woo-hoo! A new thread points to Google! Even better, the poster forgot the "http:/ /" part, and the site doesn't even reflect his point!
My question is this: was it appropriate for me to comment on the thread, ask a pertinent question, provide a couple relevant links, and then immediately come here and slag the thread?

customization of fonts is no longer working in Mefi
At least in IE5.0 for Mac, the customization of fonts is no longer working in Mefi. Although it is in Meta.
Skeleton next comment preview
Perhaps on the preview of a post or a comment, there should be a skeleton "next comment" that would show whether one has screwed up in one's tags (whether not closing them, or inserting an extra ") Obviously, this is a response to this entry.

Bad link formed, fixed
Hey there - A post I made about a WA state Bill has had its link text munged - was this deliberate, or a bug? The original text said 'WA Lawmakers try to remove "repugnant" Theory of Evolution from schools'. It now just reads 'WA Lawmakers try to remove'. Just a curious thing - maybe quote-related. Thanks.

Links to NYT broken
Following up on an earlier thread in which, a while back, it was suggested that links to the NYT be automatically be switched to channel.nyt.com.
I posted a thread with a couple links to www.nyt.com in it. I had actually originally made the link to channel.nyt.com, but when I tested it it didn't work, so I made the switch back to the working www.nyt.com URL. (My guess is that channel doesn't work for links to special "sections" like the Book Review.) It looks like Matt put in the switch to channel, however, and now the links are broken. So this is (1) a heads-up about the problem to Matt, (2) a plea of "it's not my fault," and (3) a request to fix the links, if possible. Thanks.

the internets' borken links
A few weeks ago I relaunched a web site that had been dead for 11 months. Because, like so many blogs, the site revolves around finding interesting bits elsewhere (in this case extracts or quotes), the re-launch involved going back through the source links I had left over from the site's previous life...
