Fucking Fuck: The Venting Continues
Latest venting thread now open as there is much to vent about. Gentle members, pray begin your cries of woe within.
Request to admins to just have weekly or even daily resets of the megath
From M-x shell on the most current megathread: "Request to admins to just have weekly or even daily resets of the megathread. Not wait for a user to make them, just make them automatically and close previous ones. I don't need another recap of links every time. Each thread should just have a link to previous one at the top and link to next one at the bottom." [more inside]
In Search of Ancient Thread: Undebatably Awesome Things
Many years ago, there was a thread that I'm 89% sure was on AskMe. The thrust of the question was: what cultural products enjoy a very broad consensus that they are good? Answers, for example, were things like The Beatles, Shakespeare, the jazz standards..things that have been respected from both popular and critical perspectives,. Things that a person might or might not like for themselves, but that few people would seriously dispute they were of great quality. Does anyone remember this thread? Did I make it up? Thanks for any help!
Deletions record
I saw that five MeFi threads had been deleted in the past day for various reasons. I'm not here to question any of them; my curiosity is rather more vanilla: Does anyone know the record for most thread deletions in a 24-hour period?
How to save the last space I've read to in a long thread?
What is the best way to save the place one has read to in a long thread? [more inside]
Seeking AskMe clean jokes threads
I seem to remember a thread where someone was asking for clean jokes to tell their grandma. I found the thread with clean jokes for 9-year-olds, the one with clean jokes for the office party, and the one with dirty jokes for grandma, but nothing with clean jokes for grandma. Does a clean jokes for grandma thread exist, or is my memory conflating it out of the others?
Ctrl-C, Ctrl-V
Does anyone remember one of the extended riffing sessions from maybe a year or two ago that involved people copying and pasting massive amounts of previously-posted one-sentence comments as part of the joke? Mods definitely told people to cut it out/down at some point as well because it was getting out of hand. I can't remember any of the context but I want to see it again.
The threads that never end...
Friends, I just wanted to point out something to you that you might not have been aware of, and that I was only reminded of a few hours ago, when I saw a reply to a comment in a thread here at Mefi. The reply, you see, was to a comment made SEVEN YEARS AGO. Yup. It's Metafilter Music, neighbors, where the threads never end. Never! Y'all stop in sometime, y'hear, and leave a comment! And don't worry if you're a little late to the party. At MeFiMu, the party never stops.
fork.jpg
Years ago, there was a deleted thread, the content of which, or a comment in which was a jpg of a fork. A funny reference to it came up as the first comment (or on of the first) in a non-deleted thread shortly thereafter and got a lot of favorites. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about?
Another crazy deletion
Sorry, but this is a dumb deletion, IMHO. A lot of people like Newsfilter type stuff, and those are almost always the most interesting and longest threads. This is big news in the sports community, and the deletion reason is just silly.
Sometimes We Do Good
It shall be brought to MetaTalk's attention that This Thread Is Best Thread.
My job is not to worry about those threads
The Sarah Palin thread has been surpassed. this is now Metafilter's longest thread. Happy Election Season everyone!
Romney threads
The Lethal Thread of 117781
Can't for the life of me figure out why this was deleted. Perhaps a less cryptic reason would help because this one was totally not obvious.
Show them this Meta
"Show them this thread." Has anyone ever actually done this? [more inside]
Can My Comments take me to my last comment on a post.
A pony request for the "my comments" view. It would be nice to be able to jump to the last comment one made in a topic from the "My Comments" view. It is sometimes difficult to follow the conversation from ones last post without searching.

PS: This Post Has Been BALEETED
Suggestion, not critical: perhaps a way to show that a post has been closed/deleted, in the style of the "X New Comments" update at the bottom of the thread? [more inside]
Wikileaks thread management
Wikileaks: Its a big story and is going to run for a while yet, how about sidebarring the recent huge thread so that people don't feel the need to create new ones? [more inside]

AskMeFi Story
I'm looking for a story about a person who slept with their best friend who was having trouble finding a woman, but regretted it because the friend lost their confidence as a result. It was in askmefi.
lame thread, excellent comment
Is there a way to delete a thread, but leave a comment? Maybe that should be a feature for making me laugh, at least. [more inside]

Deleted tag/thread issue? Count inaccurate.
The tag page for infanticide says that there's 1 post tagged with infanticide, but there doesn't appear to be any. Deleted tag/thread issue? Bonus points: relevant tags for Indian/Chinese infant gender disparity.
I can't access my question.

Zen-like post from a few years ago?
There was a thread here, a couple of years ago, I think, about the Zen-like (I don't remember if he was actually aligned with that tradition) aphorisms of a wise man. Many of his insights were oddly striking, but some of them seemed kind of obvious, too. An example was something like this: "People look more attractive at night."
I have searched, but not been able to find that thread. Any idea where it is?

Clooney misattribution.
Where did the hybrid thread go?
Where da hybrid thread at? It was actually kind of interesting.
Searching for a thread about sad comics.
I can't find the thread featuring sad, touching comics. Also featuring a comic where main character sends hanger to pregnant ex. Thanks!
Dead MeFi threads
How and under what circumstances do MeFi threads die or become deleted?
Perhaps this is an FAQ and someone can point out an existing answer, but a week or so ago, I posted a comment on a thread I found on the front page, and about an hour later found to be missing from the front page.
There is still a link to the thread in my personal comment history, but it seems otherwise publicly inaccessible.
Also, many of the comments in the thread indicated that the posters fully expected the thread to be deleted and that they were jockeying for "last post".
I've read most if not all the introductory matter here, but I don't remember seeing anything that covered this.

Cleanup on aisle 47964
Can we please get a cleanup of the OS WARZ!!1! type horsehockey in the WMF exploit thread? The noise isn't helping. Also - and I personally really, really hate to say this - but it might be advisable to disable the IMG tag temporarily. I love the IMG tag. Temporarily.
Help Me Find a Thread
There was something posted a few weeks ago (can't even remember if it was in the blue or the green) about a website that allows you to design your own paper robots or creatures and then fold them up according to a pre-made template. Trigger any memories?
I got a pony
A baby eohippus, neatly saddled with a bar napkin inscribed with my name, just pranced by on the thinnest of air and winked at me, whereupon I had a pony shot in celebration.
Closed thread bug
The catty came back, the very next day
In surprise twist, "Where can I get away from you idiots" AskMe thread turns catty.
How to reduce server load on large threads
Okay, since I sort of wasted my last MeTa post by being too fast on the draw, how about something more constructive. I think we could save a great deal of overhead on the server by changing the way 100+ post threads are displayed.
Thread Kill
This thread probably needs to be buried.
How to update a closed thread?
FollowupFilter? I was using the subject of this thread as an example in an email today, and while researching it I noticed that just today there was an update to this story. The original thread is locked, but I not sure this is FPP worthy.
I admit it, I monopolized the thread
Er, Guilty... It's easy to monopolize a thread when the subject is dear to one's heart. But it's difficult to gauge when one should resign and say "I'll shut up now". Cheerleading is annoying and thread-destroying. Although it's impossible to regulate posters' percentages and stuff, I'd like to hear other members' opinions on what constitutes the acceptable limit for commenting on one's own thread - considering that the moment you post it, it no more belongs to you than it does to anybody else.
