With meetups gearing up, and an eventual section to handle this being engineered (did I read that right?) - would it make sense to have an area that allowed/promoted users to upload (links to) images of themselves?

I seem to recall a while back there was a really creepy, possibly panoramic, photograph of a sprawling suburban housing development posted to the blue, though it may have been on mathowie or merlinmann's personal sites. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and can they point me to the image?

Can we please take the obnoxious American Idol picture off the AskMe frontpage? Put it inside or something, posting pictures directly onto the frontpage sets a precedent that can only lead downhill.

This is fun to make a gathering
on the Lawrence bar: 100% fewer lost keys than last time. Also, we are not nearly as tattooed as Portland...

Seattleites met up
, with special guest appearances from Madison, WI and Bellingham, WA. Frames were bowled. The mic was rocked. And a special birthday boy
made a virtual guest appearance (in fact, without his knowledge).

Photos of the recent Vancouver meetup
I apologize in advance for the utter suckiness of the interface - I uploaded most of these shots to Flickr on Tuesday, and they're still not viewable there. So I have managed to scrape together this patchwork system. HTML artiste, I am not.

Ever wondered wonder what that user looks like? I've written a quick greasemonkey script that adds photos of users next to their usernames. Photos were gleaned from meetup pictures and there are currently about 75 photos in the database (Firefox only).
If you do not have Greasemonkey, you can install the script by clicking here
. If you have Greasemonkey, right click here
and hit "Install User Script".
I'd like to know what you guys think.

A few photos
of last night's East Bay meetup shenanigans. In keeping with the no-paparazzi aim of the meetup, these are all just buttons, art and chests, plus shoutouts. Thanks to the East Bayers for organizing and for bringing the cards.

With sheer glee and drunken merriment, the Asheville MeFi meetup
celebrated its first convergence this weekend. Photographic

In short, I'll be down in the Research Triangle area, staying in Raleigh, and would like to get together for biscuits/food/etc. with Marxchivist
and others [MeFibrarian Posse or no] next Sunday either lunchish or lateish. Anyone got a good location or other ideas?

MeFi Ottawa: 11 members, spousal units and lurkers made it to Pub Italia
last night, where we consumed obscure beers, made boisterous small talk, annoyed other patrons with our flash photography, and crafted inappropriate shoutouts. So far, sboivert's photos
and my photos
have been posted to the MetaFilter pool
on Flickr; aedra's photos, containing many more shoutouts, will be up once I let her have some time in front of this computer.
