There are three (1

I'll be in Brooklyn From the 23rd of March until the 28th. Anyone want to meet up? I'm mobile, I can go anywhere in New York City people want to meet up. The weekend is probably best, either Friday or Saturday. Whatcha say?

New Yorkers perceive their own city differently because it's constantly reflected back to them in movies and books. Was this discussed on Metafilter, maybe in a comment on Ask? [more inside]

Any comics mefites going to the NY Comic Con
? Odds are that I'm going to be able to make it this year - should we set up a meeting or at the minimum some identification procedures so we'll know if we run into each other?

Anyone up for an Easter week NYC Meetup during March 22 - 29
? Perhaps we could all do an activity like an Obscure Walking Tour, Hanging out and talking at a bar/restaurant, Seeing a Show/Movie/etc. It's just a thought, I just joined the community and it would be fun to have a meetup with a bunch of other Mefites, and I'm coming back to NYC on break from college and would love to do something.

The enigmatic plep, originator of many remarkably fine FPPs
, now resides in NYC
for an indefinite length of time, on unspecified business. This calls for a meet-up, if only to pin him down as to location, and how much he's paying for rent.

I feel like I might get a bunch of chirping crickets in response, but is there any interest in an Upstate NY meetup at some point in the near future? I'm not sure where the highest concentration of members is up here, but I'm located somewhat centrally in Syracuse... can we put something together?

NYCFilter: Do you have dinner plans in the city tomorrow night? Great, me too -- wanna have drinks together beforehand? Let's waste time together in that layover hour between your manhattan day job and the commute to the outer boroughs -- or whatever your situation is at precisely 5:30pm.
Would enjoy the company of any mefites in the area, especially if you're also occupying time before the next engagement. It would be like those happy hours in airports, that easiness between strangers when everyone's on their way to someplace else.
First-timers encouraged! I've learned so much here, but have yet to meet a single person from this community (that i've known about, obviously). I'll be at the Yuca Bar (EV) tomorrow night, 6-7:30. Drop by if you're in the hood! No social agenda, just a chance to say hello to some of you for the first time.

Short notice NYC MeetUp? I'm holidaying in Manhattan from the 26th to the 6th, and I'd love to play the London Mefi Ambassador, and rendezvous with a few native New Yoikers.
Anyone fancy a pint?

What degree and combination of seniority, authority, respect, and recklessness does it take to suggest or organize a meetup? Nil? Is it possible to submit this Wooster Street Art event
as the locus of a small NY meetup? It seems that the subject has emerged a couple times recently . . .

CONFIRMED: NYC meetup on Sunday, December 3, to celebrate the release of MeFiComp
As first proposed here
, we'll meet at Solas
(232 E. 9th St., b/t 2nd and 3rd Aves., 1 block north of St. Marks). I know the management, and do a monthly event
there already. They have a side room (The Coal Bar) that is normally unused on Sundays, so we'll have the room mostly to ourselves. I'm thinking 6 pm would be a good start time. More details within.

NYC meetup? The MrsMoonPie and I will be in NYC Friday, October 13, through Sunday, October 15, staying with a friend between Soho and Notila. Anyone interested in getting together? Since I know virtually nothing about the area, someone else will have to propose a venue.

This weekend is an alternative gaming festival
in Manhattan, featuring innovative/experimental games
played in public- like this body-activated giant game of Space Invaders
played against the exterior of NYU Bobst library. Ms Phred and I will be playing cruel 2 be kind
on Saturday-any NYC mefites interested? (n.b.: I am not affiliated in any way with the festival, except as a game participant--just thought it might be more fun than drinks.)
We can identify ourselves at the closing ceremony in Central Park. Debated putting this in the blue because there are so many cool games. But it's been boingboinged
, so maybe many of us have seen it.

Is Projects only for 100% (or close to 100%) web-based projects? I ask, because I'm producing a play that's opening in NYC (where there are many MeFites). I would like to announce it, but it's not a website. (My theatre company HAS a website, and I could link to the play's page, but that seems like a fudge to me. Yes, there's a website, but the real project is in meatspace, not cyberspace.)
