FanFare AutoBoost thought for your consideration
How about adding a 'trigger' that moves a movie to the top of the page when it goes to streaming. And other "life events" in the career of any particular media. Perhaps when a book is turned into another form (see Like Water for Chocolate ballet) which is also a film, (hmm needs an opera:)
The easiest initial implementation would be a place to insert a release date for theater->streaming, not sure how to auto-populate but we can research that. Mostly for blockbusters but that does seem to be a preponderance of films on the lavender.

Yesterday, I was hanging out on the site, and in a conversation about the pandemic, a Mefite mentioned having written a book, and feeling like it was published into the abyss because of the pandemic. Several people piped up to say they had just bought a copy. I would like to find that thread, or that Mefite. [more inside]
Six-volume (so far) thriller/spy series on Green/Blue?
I thought it was in this Ask, but it isn't. Very recently someone referenced a series of books in the political/thriller/spy/something genre, and said "and volume 6 has just been released on Kindle" or similar. I need a good book series and for the life of me I can't find this comment. Help, please? Thanks!

Pony request: books on watercooler and fanfare front page
So on the side bar of fanfare when you scroll down you have recently added movies and recently added tv shows but no recently added books, could books be added? Also- fanfare watercooler shows the most active discussions in TV, Movies, podcasts, classic tv and classic movies but no books? could that be added? If there's some sort of reason why not that's fair, but It would be nice to have an easier way of finding the latest book discussions.

Looking back on ten years of FPPs
I've joined many web communities in my life, but none for as long or as wholeheartedly as MetaFilter. I've learned a lot, grown as a person, and taken direction from the thousands of smart, funny, and caring people who write here. And I've been inspired to write, too, putting more time and effort into researching worthwhile posts than I have at any other creative hobby. Sadly, what with work and the news chaos and competing interests it feels like there's less and less time to focus lately, and seeing linkrot erode what I do post is a drag. So when showbiz_liz's lovely celebration of ten years on the blue made me realize my own 10th Mefiversary was approaching, I was moved to do something about it. Nothing on the web lasts forever, but armed with old notes files, the Wayback Machine, and a drive to rediscover my own personal Best of the Web, I plowed through all 149 posts (and a few comments) to recover lost links, check on what had happened since, and organize it all into a single FPP omnibus for your reading pleasure. Humiliation: MetaFilter Edition
There's currently a discussion on the blue about not reading. In the article linked, Professor Amy Hungerford references David Lodge's book Changing Places in which a professor invents a literary game called Humiliation in which players confess to embarrassing gaps in their reading. Hi, can you identify this post? It was about a songwriter who wrote a book on composing high quality popular songs. The FPP included a rare interview he gave the Guardian and the thread consensus was that the interview was very poorly done. It's for a niece who's making demos. Thanks everybody!
Books for the non-misogynist young reader
In the long, and incredibly insightful thread about misogyny that was spawned by the tragedy in California, I had a moment, going through my book collection, whereupon I realized that I had very few books with strong female characters that I would be comfortable giving to the kids. (Mine, and the crew that seems to live here during summer; boys and girls, ranging in age from 11-13.) I asked for recommendations, and the wealth of suggestions was amazing. I would feel selfish keeping it to myself, and wanted to share, so that other people with tween kids would also have them. [more inside]

Book full of animals?
I read a book recommendation on the green for a beautifully illustrated children's book about animals.
I can't remember anything about it except that the pages were complicated and full of animals and you could spend ages looking at a single page. I think the illustrations were pretty realistic (not cartoonish).
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
