From the FAQ: "Do not post a question to AskMetafilter assuming you can have it removed once it has been answered. This is unfair to the people who answered the question and diminishes the usefulness of the site. "
Yet the poor soul who wasn't getting the answers they wanted was able to delete
">their question without a problem? What gives?

I wrote a post to AskMeFi asking if anybody wanted to translate some song lyrics into Spanish. My post was deleted and the deleter said it was really for jobs. I just thought somebody for the hell of it would want to do this. Did my post really require deletion?

Could we get a time stamp added to deletion reasons? They are the only type of comment that isn't time stamped, so all we know is that the deletion occurred sometime after the last comment (or sometime between posting and any comments).

I don't think posters on the green should be able to have their questions deleted just because they are done with them or don't like the answers they are receiving.

Is there still a page that shows all the deleted Metafilter threads? Because I was interested in the Occupy Oakland thread that was posted today, and I'd like to see the outcome of what happened to it.

This FPP was deleted by a junior mod (restless_nomad) well after a senior mod (cortex)
made a comment. Is cortex's participation not a tacit approval (in a "this can stay" sense) of the post?

This post had 126 comments before it was deleted. I'm curious, what is the record number of comments made in a deleted thread? Do you still take the number of comments made into consideration before deleting?

It seems a comment was deleted at the beginning of
this thread, but several comments responding to it remain extant. This is confusing. Can something be done about it?

The feature alerting us to new replies in AskMefi is awesome. Is it possible to have one that also alerts us to deletions?

As far as I can tell, there's three factors at play with deleted posts – moderator opinion, initial crowd opinion (comments), and initial crowd opinion (flagging). And I'm kind of seeking to understand how it interplays,

I don't know whether this is possible or desirable, but could we have a count of our deletions somewhere on our profile page?

Did we really need to delete
this FPP just because various defenders of MeFis indie street cred shat in this thread and presumably flagged it a lot? That's kind of a shame, because other people were enjoying it.

Cortex,
"weird" posts are now deleted? Where is that in the guidelines? Or, more specific, my "weird" posts are deleted, because I see weird posts on AskMeFi quite often that aren't deleted.

I just posted a thoroughly incorrect comment in response to my own AskMe thread.
Could an admin please remove it?

From whatever mod deleted it, I just wondered why my repsonse to
this post was deleted, and what exactly is so offensive about it that it needed to be removed. A Mefi mail is fine, but if you want it public that's OK too. Thank you. Truly, I don't care about the deletion, but am truly interested about the policy/ethics involved.

Did anyone notice that there were NO deleted posts on the Blue for all of June 7th? How common is that?

Vacapinta's first

This is going to work out just like we've been asking.

Is there a new policy now where Matt/Jess/cortex are deleting comments in the Blue that are a bit snarky/one-linerish? Because I remember a one-liner in the Lyndon Johnson thread that's no longer there. Is that because Matt thinks that the first few comments set the tone for the thread, so ya'll are trying to keep things on-topic from the get-go?
BTW, I'm well aware that I basically set myself up here for a rapid succession of one-liners. Have at it, folks.

I think the deletion of
this post by indienial is a bad call. The continued destruction of all things Aboriginal is a big fat important & undercommented issue, and one which I was looking forward to reading comments about.

You know what? I'm travelling, I lost my pin and have no way of pulling cash. Of course I tried to use paper to discover my pin. My last resort is Ask Mefi, I'm getting some good help, and then my post gets deleted. Well, I'm deleting my account, I'm tired of this.

I think it's deleting
this link twice shows that Metafilter mods don't have a sense of humour about themselves.
