Did we really need to delete this FPP just because various defenders of MeFis indie street cred shat in this thread and presumably flagged it a lot? That's kind of a shame, because other people were enjoying it.

Should a user purposely post something in their AskMe thread, with the idea that they can get it or the thread deleted or made anonymous later?

Cortex, "weird" posts are now deleted? Where is that in the guidelines? Or, more specific, my "weird" posts are deleted, because I see weird posts on AskMeFi quite often that aren't deleted. [more inside]

I just posted a thoroughly incorrect comment in response to my own AskMe thread. Could an admin please remove it? It is at: http://ask.metafilter.com/102955/How-can-I-travel-between-continents-without-emitting-much-CO2#1492050

For God's sake, can we delete this moron post using two poorly written old articles to set up a point-counterpoint that is as trite as it is pointlessly inflammatory? I thought posting things just to forward one's own opinions and to stir up meaningless, hot-air controversy was against the guidelines.

From whatever mod deleted it, I just wondered why my repsonse to this post was deleted, and what exactly is so offensive about it that it needed to be removed. A Mefi mail is fine, but if you want it public that's OK too. Thank you. Truly, I don't care about the deletion, but am truly interested about the policy/ethics involved.

Is there a new policy now where Matt/Jess/cortex are deleting comments in the Blue that are a bit snarky/one-linerish? Because I remember a one-liner in the Lyndon Johnson thread that's no longer there. Is that because Matt thinks that the first few comments set the tone for the thread, so ya'll are trying to keep things on-topic from the get-go? BTW, I'm well aware that I basically set myself up here for a rapid succession of one-liners. Have at it, folks.

I think Jessamyn needs a hug. First there was this and then this. I liked the sarcasm of this one and was thankful she stepped into this !narcoterror! thread. Frustration bubbles here and then, in the best delete ever, explodes.

You know what? I'm travelling, I lost my pin and have no way of pulling cash. Of course I tried to use paper to discover my pin. My last resort is Ask Mefi, I'm getting some good help, and then my post gets deleted. Well, I'm deleting my account, I'm tired of this. [more inside]

I'm seeing a lot of very eloquent responses to AskMe questions getting deleted. Some of them are very long, and while they could be thought of as containing some offending material, the whole comments are being deleted. I want to propose and discuss just removing the offensive parts -- editing out sentences or paragraphs, and not entire comments, so that the "good stuff" can remain. [more inside]

I'm kinda bumed this post on the 'Very Short Introductions' series was deleted, but understand why. Any suggestions how to get the book series in the blue, besides pushing illegal copies? The FPP had 4 favorites in its brief life and had some useful discussion starting about the best books in the series.

I'm an avid reader of Puke & Cry's Deleted Thread blog, and it got me wondering: Do any of the admins have stats on the most posts deleted in one day? Or, the most doubles (i.e. the most posts on one topic that were deleted - I'm guessing it must be an obituary post, maybe James Brown)? Or, the longest time span without a deletion? Etc.

This post was deleted for the following reason: this is an axegrindy HC post. I know it's election time and all, but it's too early for "your favorite candidate sucks" posts and if you have issues with the way other political posts have been handled, it would be better to take those to Metatalk or your own blog. -- jessamyn [more inside]

"...I think we've pretty much worn out the Republican Gay Sex Sting news thing." - cortex I disagree, but oh well. It did seem to have some interesting conversation going on. I just kinda think that if we allow newsfilter posts at all then we're always going to have this sort of thing.

FPP Deletion Cortex, I'm protesting your deletion of PSmealey's Killing Joke FPP . I thought it was very worthwhile regardless of the fact that PS decided to post the Wiki piece on the band. Methinks this is perhaps a case of a too itchy trigger finger, no?

The Michael Vick plea is a pretty big deal. He's probably going to be banned from football. Why all the deletions of the Michael Vick FPP's? This is, if not on the same level, at the least very close to Pete Rose being banned from baseball. Plus the juicy dog fighting thing, of course. The deletions seem really administrator-specific. Though you may not like sports, lots of people on Metafilter do.

I'm curious why my carefully researched post about emotional intelligence -- the culmination of a three-month ordeal I suffered that I honestly think needed to be shared -- was deleted. Most of the links were articles that were no more than two weeks old, and there was a lot of activity in the comments. True, there was a previous post about the subject, but its main link was dead. Considering the trivial subjects of my other posts, I'm surprised that this one was taken down.
