I can see the favorites this comment has, and it shows up in my side bar because it was made by a contact, but the comment has been deleted.

The faq says there are greasemonkey scripts that try to track deleted comments. Is there anything working? I couldn't find anything following the link. The deletions here are so regular it's like using the internet from China.

I recently had a MeFi post deleted. I know it will still show up in my Metafilter Recent Activity for a while, but once it goes from there, is there any way to track it and any deleted posts from my past? [more inside]

Mass deletions? 79140, 79144, 79147 and 79149 are all showing as having been deleted but none of them are closed for comments or given a reason for closure. Is my Greasemonkey broken or is your Blue broken?

Although cortex callously and without hesitation deleted my fabulous single link youtube front page post, I still see it, albeit with a re: sidebar.

Disabled accounts show up in "nearby users." I clicked on this profile and then had to click on this username (because, WTF? Was santorum taken?). Well, to make matters slightly weirder, a search for santorum brings up the username and the user's "real" name, though it's no longer visible in the profile.

Greetings from a neophyte mefite. I was wondering: is there a way to get versions of the RSS feeds which don't include front-page posts that have already been deleted? If not, it's a feature suggestion, so please discuss. Apologies if I'm being dumb and this is simply not possible using RSS.
(For a while I enjoyed the "guess if this post has been deleted" game, but it's getting old...)

argh I just finished a fascinating, wholly up to date summary of the evidence about subliminal perception and whether it can change people's behavior (as in the controversial Clinton ad) when the THREAD GOT DELETED!!!!

There was a list in the last few weeks of a bunch of weird places to get christmas gifts. One was the american science supply and the author commented that a similar list was put up last year. Searching metafilter and ask metafilter has proven fruitless. Can someone get me back to the post? thanks.

I'm an avid reader of Puke & Cry's Deleted Thread blog, and it got me wondering: Do any of the admins have stats on the most posts deleted in one day? Or, the most doubles (i.e. the most posts on one topic that were deleted - I'm guessing it must be an obituary post, maybe James Brown)? Or, the longest time span without a deletion? Etc.

Deleted: It's obvious from the comments that almost no one read the linked sites. It's obvious that the mod that deleted my post didn't either. I didn't express an opinion within the post, but tried to objectively cite various viewpoints and facts. It was essentially a response to what is currently being reported on the major news outlets, pointing to several sites in connection to what is being reported in those broadcasts. I honestly have no opinion as to the cause of the fires, nor do I have any opinion regarding 'eco-terrorism', nor even on what George Carlin said. These ideas are being discussed on all news outlets. i imagine that kelvin-helmholtz is so long because there's some kind of balance related to radiation pressure (vaguely vaguely like eddington limit?) but i may be way off - never thought about it before. if it is radiative pressure (or anything related to being hot) that holds things up that means that you'll still get an initial collapse and ignition. so i think initial "inner" thermal equilibrium will be much faster, but final steady state could take a long time.
and why on earth (or sun) is this chatfilter? delete the stupid answers, not the question. i realise it's not one of your valued "what stupid piece of crap for my kitchen should i waste money on today because i can't cook for shit but boy i know how to use my credit card like a pro?" questions, but it still has a valid answer.

Why can't one favorite deleted threads? There are a few methods of viewing deleted threads, and one can work around the issue by favoriting a comment in a deleted thread; however I think it would be nifty if we could favorite a deleted thread itself.

Was there really a good reason why every post in this AskMe thread was deleted? Looking at the question, it looked as though the poster was looking for A) good tech news sites and B) whether it would be worth it to start one. Not my fault it turned into a fight.

Are we deletion-worthy sure that this guy is blind based on an anonymous comment on another site? Especially after jourman2's examples showing a bad photographer is likely to blame for the image?

Help!
a question I asked yesterday on ask.metafilter disappeared. I received no message from admin about it. I looked both in my recent activity and on the questions posted yesterday.
Yet I am not allowed to post another question for a week. My question was not inappropriate in any way and I should have been contacted if it was. I demand the question restored (it was: tips on looking for a new job while currently employed) or to have the right to post another question immediately.
I also emailed this via the contact form.

I don't think this takedown was appropriate. Just because the story was "resolved" with flickr doesn't mean that there's nothing to talk about, or that it isn't interesting.

WCityMike got me thinking with his recent thread. I like deleted thread. Frankly I think its uniqueness constitutes BOTW. So...would it violate the rules to do a blue post about it? (AFAIK no one has yet)

OMFGAWWTDMTT: (Oh My F—kin' God Another 'Why Was This Deleted' Metatalk Thread). But, hopefully, a meta-OMFGAWWTDMTT thread. Jess, Matt, I like you guys, I really dig Metafilter, Ask Metafilter, Metatalk; I like the fact that there's good stuff here, healthy dollops of snark and cynicism, but overall what appear to be good people. But I'm having more and more difficulty discerning the criteria and rationales by which you guys delete threads, and I think that's a trend that's gonna bite the site's ass a little further down the road. Did posts from the askmefi queue thing get deleted? I just noticed a post I was going to look back at later wasn't there, it was posted through the ask mefi queue thing posted to projects a few days ago.

I'm guessing the chances are pretty slim, but I would like to see about getting one of my questions on ask. un-deleted.
I posted This question last night, and woke up this morning to see it was deleted. For this reason "doesn't sound like any problem to be solved, rather some idle 'what if' curiosity"
I've never had one deleted, and I feel it does not violate any of the things mentioned in the FAQ. To quote the FAQ:
Put another way "...if your motivation for asking the question is 'I would like to participate in a discussion about X,' then you shouldn't be doing it in AskMe. If your motivation is 'I would like others to explain X to me,' then you're probably OK."
I was simply interested in how the physics of it worked, and what would happen. I only posted once in my own thread, and that was to answer a question about thresholds.

Loudon Dreps: self-link, no. Friend-link, yes. Was this post deleted because it sucked, or because I know the guy? If both, I concede. If only because of association, is that transgression articulated somewhere? I couldn’t find it.
