Add a Link. Scroll Down. Add a Link. Scroll Down. Repeat Ad Infinitum.
Extremely minor pony request: After I use the "link" button in data entry boxes on "Create a New Post" pages, the view shifts to the very beginning of the text in the box. (The scroll bar goes all the way back to the top.) I tend to create posts which have a lot of links in them that fill up those boxes quickly. To find my place after creating a link, I then need to scroll down within the box. Would it possible to not have that happen? Can the cursor and view be left at the end of the link that has just been added instead? [more inside]

A way to create deeper links to NY Times Articles
For those of us who link to articles and essays in the New York Times, they have quietly rolled out an update to the way hyperlinks can be created for their articles. New code embedded in pages on their site allow users to create links to, and/or highlight individual paragraphs and sentences. [more inside]

Can I link to my classmates' MySpace Music pages?
I study popular music, and needless to say I go to school with some pretty amazing musicians and song-writers, many of whom have MySpace profiles and websites with their songs on them. [more inside]
Treatment of links to previous comments in the same thread.
Have you guys considered checking submitted comments/answers for links to previous comments/answers (via a number/hash sign fragment identifier ) in the same thread, and converting such instances to links that would instantly "jump" to the comment rather than reload the entire page? In addition to increased convenience for readers, I suspect such a change might significantly decrease service costs for large threads (like the recent MetaTalk thread approaching 1500 comments).
Stronger mustard
Would it be possible to crank up the contrast between read and unread links in the "Contact Activity" column? Often half of the words are highlighted and it's a very crowded small space.
I have no idea if it can be done easily and if not, I can still squint.

Links for the Memories
The welcome-back message on the front page reads 'x links and y comments posted since your last visit' (except, y'know, with numbers). But most posts contain more than one link. Would it be better to have it read 'x posts and y comments'? There's probably a downside I'm not seeing.
Where do you discover the links you post to the blue?
Where do you people find the things you post to the "blue", and how do you consistently find them before the rest of us? Specifically to those of you who make art or photography posts here on Metafilter, where do you first learn of the things you link here? Reddit? Stumbleupon? Digg? Certain blogs? Where is the bleeding edge of the internet? [more inside]

Screwy Links and Reloading Issues
I'm not sure if this a MeFi bug or something with my browser or set-up. I have experienced this on different computers and tried reloading Firefox, but I think that it is still going on. What gives? Is it some sort of local proxy or cache issue? I'm at work right now and it's definitely doing it, but this has happened to me at home as well (I am 95% sure). [more inside]

Usernames on the 'who favorited this post' page
Minor usability quibble: When you're looking at who favorites a post, and click a username, it shows their favorites instead of showing their profile page, like every other linked username on the site does. Maybe a different link to show their favorites from that page?

Linking to Deleted Posts?
Something about the most recent Alberto Gonzales post really irks me: people linking to their deleted posts in comments. It seems to me that this (a) just fundamentally defeats the point of the deletion, (b) lowers the incentive to make a good post in the first place -- since you can always link to it if it gets canned, and (c) is contrary to at least the tacit reasons underlying the no-double-post policy. (Obviously, there's a separate PoliticsFilter issue here, and the problems are related, but I would like to focus on the linking-to-deleted-posts issue and get a clarification on it.)
Adding link to post.
So I am a new member. I am having a hard time getting the link option to work. I click on the blue "Link" link, enter the link, then preview it and I get the full html in the preview. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!!
Mefi permanent cache links
Should the MeFi complex permanently cache links? Is it legal?
I recently desired to access some link I had added as a comment. My comment included a link to a PDF of testicle size. However when I now follow the chain the PDF has been removed.
Why was it removed? Either because the link became so popular that somebody figured they could make money off of it, maybe generated by my linking to it, or because of space limitations or reorganizations on the server. Anyway the link and its content have now evaporated and only maybe can I find a new link to it.
The cost/gigabite is now so low that it seems the MeFi complex could cache every link added. As long as the cache was not exposed to the outside to allow google searches (and similar traffic).
If some linked page was once put in the public domain does that mean that once it is removed it is no longer in the public domain?
Why are some links ok and others are not?
So, this FPP linking to a copyrighted movie is ok, but this one discussing how to download music in a place where it's legal to do so is not. An Inconvenient Copyright Law, indeed. Is there a rational explanation for the disparity?
But at least one should be on the outside
I know that FPPs should have, like, links and all, but it doesn't seem so terribly strange that a bunch of 'em would be all inside, at least not ban-worthy strange.
Problem with "https" links?

Can we strip posts of unhelpful links?
Metafilter: Unhelpful link text. Extra links added for padding that have little to do with the main topic of the entry. Are extremely loaded rhetorical questions the only thing that can save us now?
How do I properly create links?
MeFi link filter: I'm a self-proclaimed newbie and have unsuccessfully tried to answer my question by skimming the FAQs and searching the site.

Two little html touches
Two little html touches can really help make complex FPPs much better. I am convinced that more people would use them if they knew how. Any chance of mentioning these to prospective posters on the "New Post Page," if not actually incorporating them into the MeFi menus?

I'm looking for a site featuring pictures of people dressed up as animals using sleeping bags....
I'm looking for a link that was posted some time ago. It was a French site with pictures of people dressed up as various animals (squirrels, etc) using things like sleeping bags as costume material. I remember the post not having much text, so I can't find it with searches.
Is MeFi a member of Amazon Rewards?
When posting reference links to Amazon for books & such, does a click-through result in some pittance flowing back to Number 1? In other words, is Metafilter a member of Amazon Rewards? If not, there is no benefit of using an amazon.com link vs. for example a bn.com or powells.com .

Can we add title attribute to links?
Pony Request: Could the title attribute be added automatically to links generated from the link button on the posts/comments toolbar? It wouldn't have to have any default text in it, but it would make people aware of its existence, which they could then use to reduce the large number of mystery links we see in posts/comments.
