biscotti is awesome with animals.
So as to avoid a slow Meta day, heaven forbid, I thought I'd call out biscotti on a very long pattern of knowledgeable AskMe contributions related to various four-legged beasts.

Tips on caring for an elderly rabbit
Perhaps I'm a sentimental fool, but I found this askmefi very touching.
Project recognition
an exemplary specimen
I would just like to point out that the way in which louigi formatted his multi-question post to AskMe is superb, and should be a model for future questions of this nature.
User Shoutout!
I just want to thank y2karl for making MeFi amazing and interesting. His posts never cease to impress me. Thanks Karl!!

Metafilter's own Adam Savage in the Christian Science Monitor
"Jamie is all about total, complete, and utter control. Thinking first and then acting. Adam is about acting first and then thinking."

I feel compelled to point out Ringle Bock Jell as delicious community inspired music.
Shoutouts to FuzzyVerde
I just wanted to publicly thank FuzzyVerde, who actually delivered three tubs of ice cream to my pregnant sister today for her birthday (complete with festive cooler). The idea that a complete stranger halfway around the world would offer to help me out is just amazing. I love MeFites!
Disney World Therapy
Thread on Disney World deaths reveals a member's experience with Disney theme parks as creative autism therapy for his son. Pretty cool. More here.
Awesome belated answer on obscure criminal case
About 14 months ago, I posted a random Ask Metafilter about an obscure criminal case and described it in weak detail. Today I was going through some of my old questions (as you do), and noticed that the question was answered beautifully about three months ago by someone who may have ponied up the membership fee just to answer it. Which is really neat. So I just want to point out how cool it is that someone should do that.
Shoutout for AskMe User
Thanks, Metafilter!
Rambling drunken but sincere praise
All I'm saying is that sometimes people don't always know exatly how they'd like to express themselves. AXMETATILTER RULES ALL THE OTHER BITCHES! jesadmin is AWESOME and LAME at the same time. I love her contribution, but I do agree that the CHATFILTER has been kind of out of control. I'm drunk, and I want to fight. Seriously, though, I don;t have any problem with anone. I agree that the pruning has been inconsistent. I love you. this is a good link to explain it all. YEAH. My boy browner is the best. Anyway, the point of this post is that Metafilter has become bittersweet. Thoughts?
I thank each and every one of you.
Not Important Just Expression: I just have to say that I love metafilter. I have been aided in so many ways for years, by this wonderful place. I don't know when I started, but I know it carried me through 9-11 for example. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the founders and maintainers, for the ethic and for helping us maintain the spirit. I thank each and every one of you.
New post with more info requested
I was intrigued by thirteenkiller's post about the possibility of an impressive ancient pyramid in Bosnia. Now I see the story is getting some traction. I went to the original post hoping to add the link as a comment; but, it said, "This thread has been archived and is closed to new comments."
I don't want to FPP this follow-up. I want to call it to thirteenkiller's attention. I think thirteenkiller has already researched this once and may want to follow up with another really swell post (I sure liked the first one).
How do I do that?

mefi cd swap - worth the wait
How about a round of applause for skygazer, missing member of mefi swapset grey from 11/05 who not only finally sent along the CDs, but included a short handwritten note, a tiny toy gun, an even smaller piece of black licorice, a guitar string, and a particularly meaningful (to me at least) blank postcard of early concept designs of the space shuttle.
All of this arrived in the mail in the midst of particularly bad week, so to receive a bit of human sharedness and new music to discover from a total stranger was great. My faith in mefi and humanity is restored. Thank you.

Potential Fiery Train Wrecks Averted!
Two AskMe posts on interracial adoption and interracial breeding within an hour of each other. They had the potential to become fiery train wrecks, but instead, the answers were thoughtful and civil. Thanks for the quality discourse!

I'm still madly in love with MetaFilter
To be honest, I feel like we're in the goddamn Silver Age of Metafilter. [More (chatfilter) inside]
peacay's BibliOdyssey was just nicely reviewed on Boingboing
Mad bibliographic props to peacay whose BibliOdyssey was just nicely reviewed on Boingboing. They're right - BibliOdyssey is truly wonderful!
Kirkaracha Love
Kudos to kirkaracha for dodging the urge to be clever and actually making the text of his link to IMDB the name of the movie. Rather than content free nouns, adverb or adjectives. "Honey, I've got a tool that'll fix anything." -- Actor in this sequel would have been less useful.

Blessings for MetaFilter.
A Lepechaun's wish: Metafilter, may ye last for a thousand years and make Mathowie the Prez of the U.S.! May all of your MeFi souls rest peacefully tonight after havin' too many pints of green ale/beer. And Praise the lord for the world is a better place for havin' Metafilter in it. For those of us living here and there, may our souls return safely home!

Outstanding comment saves D&D thread from troll
It started off as an innocent thread about D&D. It degenerated into a trainwreck of trolling and vituperation. But then, at the last, it was rescued by a truly outstanding comment. This is both what I hate and what I love most about metafilter.
digaman's awesome!
This guy just unknowingly hooked me up. For years I have been blown off by doctors with sypmtoms that I finally have a name for.
Thank you digaman! This may not seem like a big deal, but it is to me. To answer the question in your OP, yea, I was until I read all of your links.

Today has been quality
Today, February 17, 2006, has seen the most quality, well written posts ever, or for at least during my time here. The bar has been raised. I'll try to keep up. Thanks!

Totally sweet detectivation that makes me feel good. mr_crash_davis deserves a plate of hot wings.
L. Fitzgerald Sjoberg writing in Wired
Over at Wired News, there's a new article from(our very own) Lore Sjoberg, and it just happens to touch on the topics of opinion, the internet, and posters. And color me dumb, but I catch a hint of the old Metafilter ethos reflected.
Madamjujujive? More like madamawesome!
madamjujujive has posted 225 links.
And that's a lot of links -- all interesting, quirky and smart. I don't know how she does it, but I hope she never leaves MeFi. Thanks, mjjj.

Happy birthday Miguel Cardoso's twins!
I know that Miguel Cardoso, our favorite Portuguese author and formerly prolific Metafilter contributor, has not been around here much lately - But, I, for one, would like to wish a Happy 25th Birthday to his lovely twin daughters, Sara and Tristana. Congrats, Miguel, wherever you are.

Vigilance
You have got to be joking? No. Considering the number of self-links that we've been having lately, I think that it's worth everyone's time to appreciate people who are keeping their eyes open for them, and to give them credit for trying, even if that particular link turned out to be a dud.

Bondcliff's comment about showering was both funny and helpful
This AskMe comment was funny and helpful. Thanks for the advice and laugh, Bondcliff. (P.S. What's an "ass cootie"?)
But not nearly as awesome as "King Shit of Dickmeasure Hill"
Thanks for the community warmth.
Metafilterites rock. After posting this, I not only received a great number of helpful suggestions, but in my inbox today found a number of emails offering donations totaling to well, well, well over the amount of money I spent on the puppy. Unbeknownst to me my RL friends have also been holding a collection, so today has been a wonderful reminder of the generosity of friends and strangers and how awesome people are in general. Thank you! You guys are great! [MI]
