Take it to Sportsfilter

Here's a fun brain teaser for ya. Wouldn't sports oriented front page posts like this and this be better suited in SportsFilter? And if not, why not?

Closed thread means not-a-double policy

"Um, isn't this a kinda sorta double-post? [/meanie]"
"This thread is over 30 days old, and has been closed for archival purposes."
So it being a repost is not relevant. I propose a mortatorium on such statements, now that it is hard coded that threads are officially dead after one month. Comments pro & con are welcome herein.

One word posts are annoying.

One word posts on the MeFi front page are in my opinion more annoying than those that are over 100 words long. I'd rather have too much information about what I'm about to click on rather than not enough. Discuss? Which do you prefer? Are there ever times when one word posts are acceptable?

What can MetaFilter learn from This American Life?

In forever searching for a bridge to close the gap between those who want more restrictive MeFi Guidelines and those who want less, I've recently found myself comparing recent MeFi discussions to how TAL submissions get on the show. Or Ira Glass' basic Radio Principles. What can MetaFilter learn from This American Life?

Staying on topic

Okay here goes nothing. This one's about topic drift, and what is the proper way of handling it, if there is such a thing.
