Pony/suggestion: What about being able to browse posts by multiple tags, but with OR as opposed to merely AND. This would mostly be to combat tag redundancy, but could also be useful in general.

A suggestion for AskMeFi: rather than (or in addition to) anonymous postings, why not give everyone a few throwaway accounts?

Would it be possible to have a search box on Activity subpages -- in other words, a search function that limits itself to a single user's comments or posts?

I'm looking for a particular FPP. It was within the last three months, and it was about how to be skeptical of science/things you read on the internet. It was really good, but I didn't have time to read it all then (and I was drunk), and I just now am regretting that I never finished it. I've tried searching, but things like "skeptical" and "science" return a lot of results. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Other sites have a little tick mark or a "new" tag for posts that you haven't seen. Can MetaFilter do this also? Yeah, I know that MeFi has the "xx new posts" thingie, sbut should/could it mark the new ones?
(I have been reading MeFi and AskMe for some time. I have registered andposted a few times in AskMe. Heck, I've even had a MeFi post deleted by Jessamyn! But this is my MetaTalk first time.)

My Askmefi question only recieved one answer...I realize that this must just
happen every so often, but I'm wondering, a) how I might avoid it, and, b) can I ask the same question again in the hopes of getting more answers?

Once someone asked a question that was inappropriate for some reason (chat filter?) and then everyone freaked out and started posting weird stuff. This was maybe a year ago. It never happened again, that I saw. It was sort of funny. But I don't know why/how/what happened.

Why do I get an email telling me my AskMe post has been posted when I just posted it and saw it be posted and therefore possessed no doubt concerning its posting?

I would like to know what people's thoughts are on the idea of allowing Metafilter posters to make a "second edition" of a post after a certain amount of time has passed (a week?, a year?).

What the hell? Silent deletion of my FPP! I know that political correctness is the force that moves Metafilter, but come ON here people!
The post was a short one, centered on this story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,314564,00.html and apparently that's a story that Metafilter is not ready to handle at this point in time.

I'm as big a fan as anyone of the LOL-christian/republican-does-something-out-of-character story, but
this is in poor taste.

So I noticed that comments I've made in a posts which are subsequently deleted don't show up in my profile's activity...

I download what I imagine might be legally construed as "copyrighted material" all thie time. But I'm actually upset with this post because I know some people that worked on
US v. John Lennon. (Double standard, I know.) So are there any guidelines about posting full-length, copyrighted movies? Is this post this even in good taste? Where's the context? Does it have
any intent other than to illegally distribute a movie? Is this even a problem?

Remember
Modest Needs? They turned five years old this week and hit one million dollars in funds dispersed since they started. In
the anniversary post, the founder mentions they got their whole start thanks to that post on mefi.

It's pretty minor, but an & in the post title turns into 'amp' in the url.
example.

Loudon Dreps: self-link, no. Friend-link, yes. Was this post deleted because it sucked, or because I know the guy? If both, I concede. If only because of association, is that transgression articulated somewhere? I couldn’t find it.

WhatWasThatPostFilter: Maybe a year or so ago, somebody posted a link on the blue to a grainy video of what seemed to be pretty violent interrogation. Screamed "viral video", and, as far as I can remember, was derided as such in the thread comments, and maybe even deleted. Anyone remember it? And if so, did anything come of it?

I posted
this and got a timeout error message. So I tried again and got a different error message. But on the third try, I got the message telling me the link had already been posted. So one of the two attempts that generated an error message actually worked.

Just a thought....in what location could we put blue requests? Ie. if I wanted someone to make an excellent post about something or someone I had interest in, but I don't have the expertise or the time, where would such a request be made?

My
FPP was deleted (not complaining; I agree with the reasoning). Aren't I supposed to get an email about this? I didn't. Forgive me if that's not the policy. I thought it was.

I just found a site,
dimeadozen.org, that I think might make a good Metafilter post. It's got torrents of tons and tons of live concerts. (I'm listening right now to the Tom Waits show in Nashville that I saw last weekend.) The problem is that it requires you to sign up for an account, and there's a limited number of account slots available each day. Would this still make a good post?

My boyfriend remembers a link to a guy who had drawn a multipage picture of loads of fictional characters, real people, landscapes etc. He eventually sold it on ebay. Can anyone remember this link/metafilter post? I'd like to see it and not being able to find it is driving my boyfriend insane!

How about a subtle indicator of first posts and new commenters? I think I mentioned this before in the comments to a thread, but as long as we're all on the Pony Express and there's no contentious threads on the blue, this seems like the time to bring it up properly. [more inside]

This has to have been covered before, but why one question per subscriber per week on AskMeFi, but no discernable limit (or is there) on postings to MetaFilter?
Referrals to previous threads on this subject welcomed. I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything obvious.

There was a thread here, a couple of years ago, I think, about the Zen-like (I don't remember if he was actually aligned with that tradition) aphorisms of a wise man. Many of his insights were oddly striking, but some of them seemed kind of obvious, too. An example was something like this: "People look more attractive at night."
I have searched, but not been able to find that thread. Any idea where it is?

Policy clarification question:
Matt deleted a link to revisionist.org. I'm not necessarily opposed to this, but I do have a few questions: a) What is the history of link removal from FPP - not modification, like adding a NSFW, but under what circumstances are links actually removed? b) When a link is removed for political reasons, what is the rationale behind the removal?
