London dim sum meetup – Saturday the 25th of August
I was very excited to learn at a recent meetup that I am not the only London MeFite with a fondness for dim sum. So – who else is in for dim sum at Chuen Cheng Ku (as recommended in this thread)? Wilder will be in town on the Saturday the 25th, and is in. Let’s meet outside on Wardour Street at 12:30 p.m.
Sydney BBQ meetup?
Spring has well & truly sprung in Sydney, and it's been about six months, so I am proposing a MeFi BBQ.
If people are up for it, I'd propose finding a BBQ area (in local aboriginal, babakuarea) somewhere around Victoria Park or in Sydney Uni, just to be close to the traditional MeFi meetup home, the Alfred.

Is anybody doing anything in Portland before the big party tomorrow? I've been traveling the western states with my camera looking for interesting sites to see, and I will be driving from Seattle where my parents are to Portland tomorrow. I'm just not sure if it's worth getting to town before 7 or not.

I will be traveling across a plethora of hemispheres, and will be in London between the 19 of June and the 8th of July. We need to come up with a solution so that people who post their gigs don't have to pretend they're "Metafilter Gatherings" or "Metafilter Related," and so that they don't get accused of shameless self-promotion or whoring themselves on Metatalk when they post messages such as this or this. They don't quite fit into Projects, but they don't quite belong in any of the categories here.

So hey... that singing audition I was preparing for a few weeks ago? Well, it seems I got the gig. Sooo it looks like I'm going back to being a working professional jazz singer & I'll be doing at least a few Sunday nights at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley this year (starting in June or July). And with that, I'll probably get off my rear & start playing other places in the Bay area too (I'm finally starting on a new press kit & music website. Yay!). You lovely Mefites have been very supportive of my music (& my desire to return to making it); it's been ultra appreciated. Moral of the story: if any of you are in the Bay area & interested in hearing me belt out some jazz in person someday, let me know & I can put you on my mailing list for upcoming gigs. Kinda like a mini meetup where I shall serenade you! It's the least I can do. :)

Chicago! I'm calling you. Yeah, I know some of you had a meetup about two weeks ago, but I'm coming there for business (and working there over the weekend.) St. Louis meetup? C'mon! As far as I know it's been over a year. That one was actually pretty decent. Let's shoot for sometime on the weekend of March 9, 10, 11 (plenty of notice here so there's no need for shitty excuses). Throw out some times and places and then we can sort it out by vote. I volunteer to be a pseudo-organizer and tie-breaker. I'm committed, notsnot has committed (maybe he'll drag along Green Eyed Monster). Will pieoverdone show up (it's been way too long, you know)? Who else, who else? Eriko, Bradlands, Phat Lobley, kdern, limeonaire, crapulent, jedicus? C'mon guys and girls you know you want to come!
I'll suggest NOT doing this at Erato but somewhere else that we can definitely imbibe and that also has a good selection for those of us that don't drink alcohol. Good food is a plus. What else?
