You know that thing people do where they swear a friend of their sister's total used to work with a woman who named their kid Shithead (pronounced Shi-thead of course)? The keyboard shortcuts in the editor (which I think are recent since I haven't noticed them before?) clash with OS X's text-area shortcuts. Specifically, ^B for bold steps on the systemwide ^B for "move cursor back one character". Can we have a user preference to disable these?

I use the mobile site on my phone fairly often. There's a convenient little jump to menu button, but the lovely links start with Mefi and Ask and Meta and have Recent Activity 12th, after things like My Preferences and Profile which I have never used on the mobile site. On the other hand, I use Recent Activity all the time. Can it get moved towards the top of the menu (or to the very top, like all the subparts if you are already in recent activity)? [more inside]

We've noticed a slight uptick in the number of anonymous questions submitted recently, and we've found that sometimes the questions don't provide the context we need to approve them. So with that in mind we added a small change to the anonymous question form at Ask MetaFilter to help with that. We're now asking why the question should be anonymous. [more inside]

A member at Occupy Portland fell and suffered a severe concussion. He posted an AskMe question that made it pretty apparent that he was still suffering and was probably not able to care for himself. The signal was sent out and ottereroticist swooped in and, with an assist from Troll, brought him to the hospital, gave him cab fare to get back the next day and orders to check in.

Why the hell is every second comment in this thread by empath? Would it be possible to have keyboard shortcuts (like ctrl-b and ctrl-i) for bold and italic formatting when composing posts and comments? I would envision it automatically putting the correct tags around whatever is highlighted. I don't use a mouse much when I compose stuff, and it would feel oh-so-good to ctrl-shift-arrow highlight, and then ctrl-b. [more inside]
