Disabling Favoriting of Anonymous AskMe Posts?
Displaying users who have marked Anonymous questions in AskMe as a favorite is potentially revealing of who Anonymous was in that instance. It is also potentially harmful, both to users who mark such questions as a favorite, as well as to future discourse at Metafilter in general. So I suggest that we remove the list at the start of the thread of those who marked an Anonymous question as a favorite. [more inside]
where does breaking news update go?
This morning two Australian miners were freed after being trapped underground for 15 days. And this morning on MeFi, we had not one but two threads devoted to it. The latter was deleted but the former still stands. Which raises the question of why, when there was already a thread devoted to the subject only a few days ago, wherein this news belongs.
Where can I post to find a non-responsive user?
This AskMe thread, although well intentioned, broke the guidelines and was subsequently deleted. But its subject matter still deserves attention, I think, and so here it is, being posted again, where the question can hopefully achieve some good. Where is ethylene?
