Burn jokes? Seriously? Did Fark buy Metafilter?

"[many comments removed - can we try it again without knee jerk mormon and burn victim jokes, please? MetaTalk is your option.]" AARGH! [more inside]

ND¢'s two cents cause a shitstorm. News at 11.

ND¢, generally I really like you, but it's clear that you are being a dick for the sake of being a dick, notwithstanding your attempts at justifying that as your real and valid opinion. All you had to say was "yeah, maybe my joke was a little offside" and no one here would have busted your balls over it. Just be a decent human being with a little respect and understanding and things don't have to turn into a shitpile.

What the world need now is crap, more crap?

ok, flag it as crap we know you want to. But do we both need you flagging it as crap and then posting a crap "flagged as crap" message in the allegedly crappy thread? Comment should be flagged as masturbatory noise.

Divorce too often recommended as solution

This sort of thing irks the hell out of me. When I asked for advice on getting my picky wife to eat well while pregnant, I also got advice like this ("my question in your circumstances would be about divorce lawyers"). I've seen a number of others like this too over the last year(s), advocating divorce or 'dumping' for any sort of relationship issue. Can we get a smackdown on these idiotic AskMe answers?

You might post my project to MeFi, but can I add related info?

At some point down the road I will release a project to Projects. I think it's cool and interesting enough that a MeFi post could well be deserved, not just linking to my project but to a number of related sites and documentation. I'm very close to this project, so I can handily write up what I think is a good and wide view of the issue to do more than promote my project. However, I don't want to be accused of self-linking and instead would rather post it to Projects with enough info for someone else to post on MeFi about it. Would suggesting someone do this in the writeup in Projects be going too far?

PS. Additional suggestion for the form I'm currently filling in: "Projects related"

Ask MetaFilter etiquette - timeframe of questions

Ask MetaFilter etiquette: I've got a ton of built-up questions and only found MeFi a couple months ago. Is it ok to post weekly (as often as I'm technically allowed), or should I give the space/attention to others with perhaps more immediately vital questions?
