Request: official deleted threads index on the site
Deleted threads should have their own place on this site somewhere. Not only could they be accessible for reference, but many are funny as hell.
Yes or No?
My lively Burning Man post was deleted?!
My burning man post was deleted because it was "an excuse to talk"? Admittedly, it wasn't the most stellar post, but a lively discussion ensued, and gee, I thought that's why we came here. Besides, any post that allows mefites to express their everlast hatred for "hippies" has got to be doing the community some good, no?
You deleted my post
Well Matt, you seem to have it in for me...
leave the metachat on metachat?
This seems like a pretty weak reason to delete a post, eh?
Can I second reasons for deletion?
I wish I could post "Excelent Reason" to deleted post reasons.
Deleted relevant thread questions
My FPP was deleted today. Which, relevant to an ongoing thread (that I had not seen prior to posting) brings up interesting (or not?) questions about prohibited speech and its implications/consequences. . .
I don't understand this AskMe question
I don't understand. But then again, this is some pretty heady stuff and I'm a simple man. [I wanted to flag it but apparently you can't flag AskMe posts]
If a comment is deleted, is the user notified?
If a comment is deleted, is the user notified? I commented in the roach question, and now it's gone. Is it because I used a bad word?
Where'd that comment go?
I could have sworn that somebody posted a link as a response to my question. Now that I have time to actually check it out, though, the link is gone. What gives? Bug? Gratuitous moderation? Anyone know what the link was?
This post is not the best of the web
Can we get a restart here?
Archive deleted threads and reasons for deletion
Archived deleted threads and reasons for deletion in AskMe and Metatalk? Pretty please?

Deleted AskMe comment?
Anyone else having their comments deleted in AskMe threads? My comment in this thread was deleted as well as my answer in another recent thread. What gives? Am I just not that helpful?
So what was wrong with my answer to this question?

Why Was I Deleted?
I posted a question to Ask Metafilter this morning, and it just vanished. What went wrong?
Please delete me, let me goooooo
Please obliviate drakepool. He wants his metafilter output erased and his time here behind him. He can't communicate what he think anyway. He content to go back to laying his nonsense on his friends...
Comment Deletion
I am not a fan of "why did you delete my comment"? posts, but, er, feel compelled to ask... Why delete the three comments in the NYT thread which linked to other online papers? Maybe they should have been more verbose, but I think the point they were making is clear - there's a whole variety of fish in that online paper sea, why get so het up about the NYT?
That deleted thread had an interesting Q&A about #mefi
Look, that deleted thread had an interesting Q&A about #mefi where I learned quite a bit. You'll certainly delete this one, but did you even read it before you bombed it?
Bad job. Totally unreasonable.

Link suddenly disappeared
I am baffled by the sudden disappearance of a link to 63days.com - I am unable to find it by searching MeFi either. I was not the original poster, but found the link fascinating and am confused about its removal. Anyone know about this?
Anybody have a good story?
Is this what MetaFilter is for?
I recently had an Ask MetaFilter comment deleted. The topic was Asperger syndrome, and why so many brilliant people had it. My comment went something like this:
Call it what you want.
Difficulty with mundane, linear tasks promotes lateral, creative thinking.
Poor social skills promote self-reliance.
Weakness becomes strength.
I don't agree with the deletion, but I can live with it.
The standard explanation for FPP deletion is: "This is not what MetaFilter is for."
But now you have an FPP with about sixty comments that debates how many five-year-olds you can maim or kill. Weapons are being mentioned. I understand this is supposed to be funny. I think this is not only not funny, but in extremely bad taste. Substitute "women" for "five-year-olds", and how long would this FPP last? Is this what MetaFilter is for? Matt?

What happened to my MeFi question?
Earlier today I posted a question about MeFi (how to turn off background color) in the main Ask MeFi area, which appeared for a few minutes then vanished. Did it likely get moved somewhere else, or just censored? for being in the wrong place? for expressing (in mild terms) dislike of a Mefi feature (I can't see text on colored background). Or did it just vanish into the ether?
Lost & Found
I'm confused by this Ask Mefi question and just as confused by the "best" answers. Although a question is asked in the first sentence, the focus of the post is to use Ask Mefi as some sort of artsy fartsy lost and found.
Comment count does not match actual comments
3067 != 3202 ; 443 != 471 ; 426 != 432 ; but 11 == 11. An old user thing? Or a massive cover-up? Follow the money!
reason for deletion?
I don't think deleting Metatalk threads asking to clarify the deletions of Ask Metafilter threads is good for the community. [+]
I am TOO logged in. The thread has been taken out.
When viewing a deleted thread (While logged in) I see a bit at the bottom that says "You are not currently logged in. Log in or create a new account."
I can confrim that this is happening in every thread that is currently missing off of the front page.
Firefox 1.0, WinXP, &c.

Tags for deleted double posts
Tag problem? Searching for the Jeff Gannon thread to post this juicy update, I found this page, which says there's a tag but doesn't show it. I think it may be a tag for a deleted double post?
Actually I don't think this was his own website...
I don't think the site in this deleted thread belongs to the poster. The names don't match up, and neither do the writing styles. He just improperly quoted the phrase "The Goleta Air & Space Museum is just my web site." While not formatted very well, I think the link holds up to scrutiny.
What makes a post inappropriate?

Is there a guide for how racy a post can be? I posted a fairly racy (but funny, or at least I thought so) thing eariler and it was taken off. Did I step over the line?

Where did my comment go?
Disappearing comment in this thread: I posted a perfectly normal comment after 40 Watt's first comment, and I know that I did indeed remember to hit "post" because, well, I actually saw the comment posted on the screen. But just now, going back to the thread, my comment is gone. Are gremlins afoot? Because certainly my "hey, thanks for the reminder, I'm going to get this for my nephew" couldn't be considered worthy of deletion...?
double post
Too graphic for the front page?
too graphic for metafilter?
Thank you, Matt
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Matt for deleting the Invisibility/Flight thread in Ask.Me
Quit with the Rampant Assholery
0-14, indeed.
0-15, indeed.
Come on, guys, I don't care if you don't like her posts, but why be such assholes about it?

Salvage without the self-link
Delete the self-link and this post stands on its own.
This is a pretty dumb comment.
deleted threads bookmarklet broken
Deleted comment notification?
Would it be possible, when comments are deleted, to replace them with a [comment deleted due to offensiveness] rather than delete it altogether, and have 100 people all scratching their heads going, "huh?" at the apparently non-sequitorous responses?
(Phrasing partially stolen from wackybrit)
(Caveat: This is not me bitching. Just a question. If it's a bad idea, just let me know.)

Banned anyway
Crossword puzzle post isn't quite right.
I'm guessing this should be moved here, since MetaFilter is about links (and no, the 1998 report of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament isn't enough). Yeah?
This comment is very unnecessary, distracting and long.
This comment is very unnecessary, distracting and long. It also has nothing to do with the posted links. Can it please be removed?
Hey, what happened to that lion FPP?

I wasn't going to say anything because the grey has been so god-awful busy today, but what's the deal here? And can it stop?
Um. Doesn't this belong in AskMe instead?

Finding Deleted FPPs
Pony: We've heard it before (a bookmarklet was even developed for it), and the devout scour mefi.lofi for them... but in this age of all the new MeFi citizenry, I think it would be helpful to get an easily accessible repository for deleted FPPs up and running for the benefit new posters to dig through and discover why some posts must die. How easy, how hard, or how pointless?
Adding a question mark doesn't make a legit AskMe
I don't care if it is phrased in the form of a question. Using AskMe to get in a second post because you "already shot [your] wad today with a different MeFi front page post and thought this merited a posting" is just not on.
I hate to ask why this was deleted, but...
Asking why a post was deleted has become trite and cliched recently, and I am hesitant to do so again so soon. And yet, here is a genuinely light-hearted humor post that's got some brilliant framing done by esch . . . and the deletion reason was 'um?'
Was this thread on voter intelligence deleted?
Hi,--
I could swear I saw a link in a thread on Mefi recently that debunke the supposed correlation between voter intelligence and voting preferences, with a link to a spreadsheet containing the actual correlation between the two. Except I can't find it now and I'm wondering if the thread got nuked or if it was tucked away in a thread of a different topic. Does anyone remember this?

This site is just too much
I had my finger on the button of a new MeTa thread, ready to congratulate Matt on having the discretion to NOT delete the Rape Haiku post. Unfortunately, that's a thread that will never exist.
