Deleted: It's obvious from the comments that almost no one read the linked sites. It's obvious that the mod that deleted my post didn't either. I didn't express an opinion within the post, but tried to objectively cite various viewpoints and facts. It was essentially a response to what is currently being reported on the major news outlets, pointing to several sites in connection to what is being reported in those broadcasts. I honestly have no opinion as to the cause of the fires, nor do I have any opinion regarding 'eco-terrorism', nor even on what George Carlin said. These ideas are being discussed on all news outlets. As alluded to here, I would like to formally propose a meet up at the Eastlake Zoo. It's a dive bar, true, and a relict from a bygone epoch but there are few such places left hereabouts and none as venerable. I've been fooling around with user javascript for Opera and fixed a few problems with the live preview. The first problem is that it doesn't appear at all for me. The second problem is the sluggish live update performance when viewing longer threads. My solution is available here, but I wouldn't mind if it found another home, like the metafilter code? I've just joined MeFi as a new member, specifically for the purpose of asking a question on AskMeFi. Usually, I do this from work, and until a few days ago, I could reach AMF without a problem from work. Now, I can reach all parts of MeFi except AMF from my office. Is there some issue going on? I'm not getting the usual 'forbidden' error, I'm getting 'gateway not available', which indicates the site is not reachable. The hostname resolves, and I'm getting good ping times from it. Suggestions?
