AskMe questions that read like a letter to Ann Landers c. 1962 are probably fake.
This is a fine example of a decent question and good responses made much less satisfying because they are interspersed with responses from assholes who are just posting to see their names.
About 14 months ago, I posted a random Ask Metafilter about an obscure criminal case and described it in weak detail. Today I was going through some of my old questions (as you do), and noticed that the question was answered beautifully about three months ago by someone who may have ponied up the membership fee just to answer it. Which is really neat. So I just want to point out how cool it is that someone should do that.
Sock-puppet alert. joshuak asks a question and then logs in as alter-ego fearandloathing to ask another question. However, he forgot to change his identity back when he went back into the first thread to bitch that no one was telling him how to get a $40/hour job across the street from his house.
Here's an excellent example of people pulling AskMe answers out of their asses. If you don't know Latin, don't answer.
