I got chopped liver in my python while listening to Celine Dion
Ya know, for a moment there, I really was interested to know not only if a kitten could survive inside a python, but the backstory behind how a python got to eat the whole kitten whole in the first place.
And then you had to dash my hopes of finding out something interesting only to make a funny. Thanks, I appreciate it. Jerk.
Nyeah Nyeah
How judgemental is it OK to be in an Ask Metafilter reply? If someone wants to know how to game the system to continue being a public menace, is it OK to point out that it's not in our best interest to help? That, in fact, it could arguably be aiding and abetting future lawbreaking? Or is that nyeah nyeah?
These are a few of my favorited things...
Just curious about something... when someone answers an AskMe question and it gets marked as one of the best answers, shouldn't that also count for them as being favorited by someone? Or... no?
Are you kidding?
Is this suitable for AskMe?
ask.met... er, I mean provoke.metafilter?
Is this in any way acceptable? By which I mean posting a question that you "know" will be flame-bait, and then taunting those who answer?
Spoilers: threat or menace?
Should major plot developments in serialized works of fiction be considered FPP-worthy? If so, when? (Consider: 1, 2, 3)
Unnecessary-ness
What happened to the thread of photos off the p2p networks? Did that link get removed for any particular reason? Was it to make room for the Zelda/Golden Ratio thread? Hmm. I am kind of disappointed.
MeFi ReCurrents
An Immodest Proposal: One of the interesting phenomena I've noticed as other aggregating sites are on their ascendancy (can you Digg it?) is that many links that had been MetaFiltered long ago (in Web time) get a new wave of attention, which flows back around here, and BANG! Double-triple-quadruple post!. And how many times lately have we seen comments like "Didn't see it the first time; glad it was reposted"? Maybe what we need is a separate place for "Re-Current" posts or links, where we can acknowledge that WE got it months/years ago, and re-open comments on it. Obviously, such a sub-Meta would require a lot of moderation/maintenance, and maybe it should be an off-site project. How should it work? Can we/you make it work? Why bother? Any volunteers?
crush racism an sexism forever
I would be more comfortable speaking with someone gay. Is that kind of sexism halal on AskMe? I need a straight interior decorator (gay men make me uncomfortable). Where can I eat in a nice whites-only restaurant?
I have a question. (unrelated) Here's another one.
Asking two questions?
Gonzo Scooter Journalism
would it be too newsfilter / doublepost to link the closing arguments in the scooter libby trial? the previous post three weeks ago was pretty generic, and the commenters in the thread are right that it was almost impossible to follow what was going on (and i say this as a law student who's fascinated by these things). today, however, was some grand drama, with the defense breaking down into tears, and Fitzgerald going after not just Scooter but Elmer Fudd himself with both barrels. this is stuff that's actually accessible to the general public, but i hate crowding the blue. (grey, i got no problem with, apparently...) thoughts?
FPPs to Copyrighted Material
Is there a definite rule about not FPPing links to possibly copyrighted material? As Viacom noticed there's a lot of videos on YouTube that probably shouldn't be there, and I'm unsure if we're allowed to include such things in posts.
you should be deleted, banned, drawn, and quartered
Maybe it's just me, but I think when you sign up just to have AskMe to help you do research for some blog and you are too dumb to hide the fact that you are crossposting, you should be deleted, banned, drawn, and quartered. What do you guys think?
Deleted Thread
WCityMike got me thinking with his recent thread. I like deleted thread. Frankly I think its uniqueness constitutes BOTW. So...would it violate the rules to do a blue post about it? (AFAIK no one has yet)
Taxes and AskMe
We all know tax time is coming. Could we please have a moratorium on all tax-related AskMe's that are more complex than "I live in X, where do I mail my return to"?
Taking a dim view of a certain user
Why does MetaFilter revolve around Dios? Isn't this a community of circa 50,000? It feels like everyday there is another Dios soap opera. I dread clicking on post comments anymore because chances are it will be more about him rather than the post.
I don't care what you like
AskMe Guidelines: "If I like x, what will I also like?" Chatfilter or just supremely irritating? Or do I just have a pickle up my ass again?
MeFi Music - is it only for music?
MeFi Music - is it only for music? I've been writing some short (>7 mins) stand-up skits recently, and was wondering if mp3's of same would be an acceptable music post, especially as the feedback would be extremely useful...
Isn't this post of mine not really an "XYZ sucks, amirite" question?
Isn't this post of mine not really an "XYZ sucks, amirite" question? Looking at the answers I think it's more asking about the lack of cultural awareness of him while he has such success in Britain. Could understand it being deleted for being open-ended, but not the 'amirite' part.

Commercial Link in FPP?
I'm putting together a FPP about a certain inimitable cartoonist. I've found a place that has a lot of said cartoonist's strips available to view online. Great! But I'm concerned about linking to it because it's a commercial site. Pros: It's the most extensive collection of this artist's work online as far as I can tell. Cons: They're selling something. I'd like to include the page in my FPP but I'm not sure if it would be appropriate.
21 months away...
So, if this is election minutiae, is this? And can we assume that a ElectionFilter FPP formulated like this is OK?
Music Guidelines
It says in bold that Mefi Music is a place for users to upload their own songs. I'm guessing that means original songs written by the user are being encouraged in order to avoid copyright infringement...? What about songs that aren't copywritten or are in the public domain, though? Are musicians welcome to post cover versions of old songs if royalty issues aren't a concern? Curious.
AskMe Etiquette
AskMe etiquette: is it OK to use AskMe answers as a lead-in for business? Someone close to me is a professional career counsellor/resume writer & I've thought of recommending they join MeFi specifically so they can join in answering job-related questions, with a thought to promoting their own services if people want more in-depth assistance. I'm absolutely NOT talking about a cookie-cutter spamish approach that purely takes advantage of the community while giving nothing in return, but real answers that help people out with an understated offer to provide something more substantial at a price. I see a lot of job- & career-related posts to AskMe & I see it as a good fit, but I'll only suggest it to them if I get a thumbs up from the hive.
AskMe: deletion of post causes confusion, hurt feelings.
My ask mefi question was just deleted because essentially nobody read it and assumed it was some sort of advertisement. This has left me feeling somewhat hurt. I know the rules. I respect mefi and I was pretty much just stomped on for no good reason. The question was long, and it required more thought than usual, but in the end it was a question; nothing less and nothing more. I'd like it to be reinstated or at least evaluated by people who don't mind using their brains. This was the question: http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/54626
Multiple Accounts for AskMe
Is the Multiple Account Rule still in effect?
I keep holding off on posting a question to ask metafilter because I'm afraid of using up my one good question that week. And the continuous hold off makes me miss out on asking so many questions that I need answers for.
I'm not out to break any of metafilter's rules, but it would be really nice if I could ask at least two questions a week. Or hell, if there was a program I could queue up questions to have them automatically submitted.

Aren't these both hypotheticalfilter?
Simply because I've always been disappointed we never got to discuss this question, I'm going to go ahead and ask whether the same ban reason should apply to this one.
AskMe and the kosherness of friend-linking
A friend (really, it's not me) designed and manufactures a product at the hobby level that would potentially solve a question on AskMe. [The more, she is inside.]
The two-week waiting period
In which I posit that the two-week waiting period has had no impact on the volume of questions.
Wikipedia as FPP?
Has it become acceptable to copy paste a wikipedia article, shuffle the links around a bit and make an FPP out of it, or did this one just go under the radar?
I like stavros. I like copyright infringement.
I like stavros. I like copyright infringement. I like the kind of hard work that goes into a FPP like this. But there's something about this Wii-winning post that doesn't sit well with me. Could you help me put my finger on it?
Too close to Arrrrrrr
Why is this thread still around? I know at least one admin has seen it, since my snarky response was removed. Is it now OK to ask for piracy how-to's?
OK to post a self-link to a news story?
Is it considered a self-link to post a legitimate news story that you have a personal connection to? If it is, is it OK for me to use MeTa to ask someone else to post it instead of me? I don't want to cirumvent the rules, so I'll hold off on giving the links until there's a reasonable consensus in favor of it.
Posting Copyrighted Youtube Links
Is there a policy on posting Youtube links to stuff that is (most likely) under copyright? I apologize if this has been asked before, but I swear I searched the archive...
Take MeTa etiquette and policy debates offsite...?
What if the etiquette/policy category didn't exist on MeTa? More within....
Ask.mefi limit between posts?
Didn't ask.mefi used to have a 7 day gap between posts? When/why did it go up to 14?
AskMe becoming New Google
and to the google guy--I was buzzed and didn't care too google this... Seems like a dangerous precedent, or is askme the new google?
I really don't understand this site anymore.
I really don't understand this site anymore. I have been reading for a year and been a member for about seven months. My last two posts turned into people yelling at me, or telling me I posted in the wrong place.
Just like this one will turn into people calling me names and being negative.
I don't get it. I read the "About Us" and "FAQ", I get yelled at for signing my posts, not posting in the right place. NOBODY offers help, just kicking me in the shins for not understanding the subtle nuances of this site. Which, I might point out, aren't explicitly outlined! Something too "MetaTalk-y"? Great, what does that mean? These the same folks that yelled at me when I made a comment that MeFi looks like 2 day old Reddit.
Y'all have fun with your internet clique. There are good people on this site, but these days it seems like the mean ones are loudest.
Signed,
Me

AskMe post limit two weeks; or, survivor style
Feature request: Setup AskMeFi to have a one question per two weeks limit. Then, create a separate page that allows people who have already asked their question to have their extra question displayed and voted on. (more inside)
Self-Linking Callout
kirkaracha might need to be reminded of the "no self-link" policy.
Self-link
Evidence
Personally, I think it's a relevant and useful link, but I don't think it should be up to the poster to make the judgment call, do you?

My father is cool, but is he linkable?
My father has done some things that I think would be of great interest to a lot of MeFites. I have no connection to the work other than being related to the fellow who did them. Does it belong in projects, or in the blue?
Policy on piracy questions
How is this spaying and neutering question not chatfilter?
Just curious:
How come the "Why are so many purported "animal lovers" pro-spaying/neutering?" askmefi wasn't deleted as chatfilter?

Is it okay to lift meterial from a blog?
Um. If someone admits in an FPP that most of the material was lifted from a blog, is it time for an upside-down pitchfork party?
Self-link. Don't link to things you're involved with.
Speculation in AskMe answers.
So idle speculation really is "what the green is for"? That's a surprise.
Shilling projects in askme
HomeworkFilter
Since when is it okay for a user to ask Mefi to do his research for him? (or her) This person wants studies and research as opposed to personal stories... so isn't that just asking us to google it for him/her?
Looking for articles on processes in community blogs
i'm looking for articles/opinions summarising (self-)regulatory processes of community weblogs such as MeFi, as orientation for the latest bouts of antville soul-searching.
some really awesome & fabulous people could tag old posts
My petition for the creation of a squad of mefites with the power to add tags to old posts.
