MuFi: Can we get a list of songs sorted by play count? Reference
Can't get the mefi music player to work, even though I just reinstalled flash (it's flash-based, right?). It works on my laptop though, not sure why. [more inside]
is there a way to search for every MeFiter who has posted to Music, but from a particular city? Seems like if the search terms are not in the post or tagged by the poster, the MeFi search engine doesn't include the user info... [more inside]

Cambridge Meetup reminder filter: The inimitable frenetic, known to most rubes as Brad Sucks, will be performing at Middle East in Cambridge, MA next Tuesday (2/12). [more inside]
Could there be a place within Mefi Music for people to post tabs? [more inside]
I can only listen to the first few seconds of any song on MeFi music. I hit play, the first 2-3% of the song loads, and then the music cuts out. This seems to be a problem on my end, and I'm hoping someone has suggestions. [more inside]

Some new stuff at Music: play counts, flash player update, and pop-outs! [more inside]
For MusicFi: I never have any idea if anyone listens to the songs I've put up, because no one ever comments or gives feedback. Granted, this might be because my songs
suck could be better, but it doesn't seem like there's a lot of feedback even for the obviously skilled artists. [more inside]
I am looking for a fellow MeFite who is both a Daft Punk fan and proficient with (preferably) Fruity Loops and/or Reason. I'm working on a top secret project that I'd like to collaborate with someone on. Who will bite?
How about adding a play count to songs in the black? [more inside]

The MeFi Music iTunes feed seems to be broken. [more inside]
Lots of people seemed interested in my Christmas music question. With your help, I've finished the job. Thanks so much everyone!
Has anybody considered developing a MeFi Music Gadget (basically, an iGoogle gadget featuring an mp3 jukebox that plays the most recent or most favorited MeFi music posts on a subscriber's iGoogle homepage)? [more inside]
In response to this thread: A little GreaseMonkey script to pop-out all the flash players (that use playlists) into new tabs/windows. Enjoy!
Karlos the Jackal made an excellent suggestion near the end of an earlier thread, but I don't know whether any of the admins ever saw it. Is a permanent list of available MeFi musical collaborators a possibility?

This is too weak for the blue (and many will say for the grey as well), and I'm too close to him for it not to be a "self-link," but I thought that some MeMu users may be interested in Sufjan Stevens' Xmas Song Swap. [more inside]

Let's have a massive Metafilter Music collaboration. [more inside]
First MeFi Music Challenge? 27 eager participants got their feet wet. Second Challenge? 12 serpentine submissions. Third? 9 MeFiers took it to the bridge. Fourth and most recent? 7 made the suprhuman effort. This is not a promising trend... [more inside]
Last.fm pony please: I'd like to embed the "Recently Listened" (or similar) chart into my profile, much like the flickr photo scroll. (Alternately, if someone knows how to do that now, I'd appreciate it). [more inside]
Allow me to nerd out briefly on behalf of one of our own. Say, Mr. William "I invented cyberspace" Gibson, what were you listening to while writing your new bestseller Spook Country? Why, I was listening to Brad Sucks, nanojath! (see Sept. 1 entry) [more inside]
Can't seem to find this month's music challenge topic. Is there one?
Hey, I see there's suddenly a new font in use for song titles (and linking directly to threads!) at MeFi Music. Looks good to me: the page is more unified. Might I be so bold as to make a further suggestion? Make the song titles a little smaller. I don't think they need to be so big, really, and it'd make more space, so more MeFier's songs could bask a little longer in those bright MeFiMu front page stage lights. Whaddaya think?
Uploading songs to mufi is maybe broken? Or maybe it is just me?
Those of you putzing around on MeMu know I am heavily into folksongs and folk singing. This Thursday at 7:30 pm I am hosting a song session at Rasputin's in Ottawa (696 Bronson, for those of you who live here). The focus will be strongly towards accapella song, whether in groups or solo, and there will (hopefully) be singing from as many different musical traditions as we can manage. Since I'm new here, I'd love the opportunity to meet some local Mefites; I thought this would be a fantastic excuse for a meetup. No singing is required, I'll only ask that you don't talk when someone is singing, out of respect for the singer. So, are there any Mefites in Ottawa interested in coming down to Rasputin's on Thursday? I'd love to meet you!
So, the call went out, and the call was answered: we got us some fine and snakey new songs around MeFi Town. 'Bout half as many as poured in for the previous water theme, but I reckon that's to be expected, sophomore slump and all. Just wondering, now that we're two days past the serpentine deadline, what's the next MeFi Music Challenge, admins?
I want to use a song from Music.Mefi, but the creator (Vicarious) doesn't have an e-mail!!! Is there any way to contact said creator, or maybe the musicians could add a creative commons tag so others could use their work, and attribute appropriately? I wanted to use the song in a video that I'm making.
I seem to remember an AskMe post regarding the bell-like, bubble-ish synth noises that Radiohead (and others) coax from their machinery, and how to replicate them, but i cant find the post using my limited google/AskMe-fu. Anyone remember this and can point me in the general direction?
I once found (and bookmarked) this page of all of chococat's music. I like it because it has the little flash player, so I can listen to all of his tunes. How do I get to the same kind of page for other MeFi Musicians? I've tried looking on members' profile pages, but the link to all of their songs goes to the music parts of their Activity pages. Thanks.
The first Metafilter Music Challenge, "water", has officially deadlined, with 27 entries as of this writing. Fantastic! A whole lot more below the fold, so come inside!
Music Challenge: what is the last day of the Water Theme?
Meta Music filter. As a newbie, I was a touch underwhelmed by the recent song challenge. "The theme of water" seems so broad as to be kind of, well, boring. Why not 'love' or 'nature' or 'loneliness.' Might I suggest something a bit more kooky, esoteric, and actually challenging for the next one. Something along the lines of, "you make me touch your hands for stupid reasons." (via) Maybe nothing that gimmicky, but come on! Can't we do better?
Announcing the Metafilter Music Challenge! After a discussion here last month, we're starting up an opt-in theme-based challenge over at Music. A bit more inside!
I posted an idea here a few weeks ago, and I was just wondering if people were still up for it.
Would the admins (yes you kind folks) consider voting/nominations/suggestions for the featured songs for future podcasts? Just curious. (Prepared for a sound walloping.)
Matt, I have waited several hours for you to fix it, but the song parody you linked to in the Blue Sidebar is titled "Thou Shalt Always Filter", not "Thou Shalt Not Filter". And it is totally awesome... When I say “end” thou shalt not say “well”. When I say “Wen” thou shalt not say “dell”.
I have an idea for a songwriting competition, and I think the musicians here are talented enough (and have the know-how / equipment) to pull it off. On a weekly or bi-weekly basis, someone (the winner of the last round) could post a challenge (ex: an old-school country waltz about flowers), then everyone who wants to compete could post their songs and the MeFites could vote. Opinions?
