Back in the days of yore, there were blogspot blogs that had feeds of deleted posts and questions, which I found really helpful for resolving "wait...I swear something was here" kinds of moments, as well as having a fuller understanding of the kinds of things that get deleted and why. (This was NOT a record of deleted comments, which is a very different spicy meatball.) [more inside]
Deleted posts can be flagged but not favorited. Shouldn't it be the other way around? [more inside]
We often see people in emotionally charged threads attempting to reply to comments that have already been deleted, which perpetuates unproductive fights and stresses out the mods even more. Might it help to provide some sort of automatic indication (that is, one that activates without having to refresh the page) that a comment has been deleted? For example, fading out the comment to a light gray, or whatever color would be appropriate given the active theme.
The (as far as I know, unofficial) blogs for deleted MetaFilter posts and deleted AskMetafilter posts do not seem to get updated lately. Is something broken, or is something else going on? Does anyone know?
So http://ask.metafilter.com/249451/Wee-want-to-know just got posted and deleted. It reminded me of this: http://ask.metafilter.com/40759/Why-is-the-opening-at-the-front-of-mens-briefs-still-there-if-its-rarely-used [more inside]
My post appeared to be deleted because a page consisting mainly of a bibliography of internet publications of a prolific author (subject multiple mefi fpps) documenting his connections with right-wing political activism and with critiques of selected quotations is "editorially undiscriminating" and people don't like it. Editorially undiscriminating? Is MeFi now "fair and balanced." It seems like we are only allowed to talk about politics when provoked by someone like Balko (in a fpp) but can't actually examine the politics of provocateurs on the internet.
My very first post on Metafilter (about N. Korea) was just deleted! Bummer. [more inside]
Sorry, but this is a dumb deletion, IMHO. A lot of people like Newsfilter type stuff, and those are almost always the most interesting and longest threads. This is big news in the sports community, and the deletion reason is just silly.
I posted a question asking what tangible things I could do to improve the lives of people I love. Why was it deleted? [more inside]
I think other versions of this post linking to a video of Mormon temple ceremonies ought to stand if they're offered. [more inside]
You tell me how to retrieve the HTML from a post that got deleted plz kthx? (I posted something on the front page last night, and it got deleted for too much personal commentary. I'm fine with that.) User Goofyy and deleting admin kaz suggested that I re-post sans commentary. This is moderation, it's not racism. So is there an easy way to get the HTML of my post back, or will I have to just re-type it all? [more inside]
I would like to get memail notification of deleted comments which include the original text. [more inside]
Can't for the life of me figure out why this was deleted. Perhaps a less cryptic reason would help because this one was totally not obvious.
Hey, I just posted something that was deleted because it was a double. I didn't know it was a double because the original post that it doubled had a different link and keywords (I even searched, nothing came up, wish I'd thought to search for just "iron"). However, it was an exact copy of another double that did match the URL and keywords exactly. So, it seems to me, that when searching past posts in the "New Post" form, it should search through deleted posts as well, to avoid these "doubles of doubles" type situations. [more inside]
Bug, or just me? Cannot remove deleted threads from recent activity. [more inside]
Why is video evidence of a police officer breaking the law not considered FPP worthy? Why, when subsequently posted (read: buried) in a thread two days old, 330+ comments large, and long-since derailed, is that post deleted as well?
Is it kosher to repost someone else's self-link? [more inside]
mccarty.tim's latest project: Worst Post Ever is a "home version of the deleted post game." Bonus: See the red box of deletion in action! (Via Projects.) [more inside]
My contribution to a thread has disappeared. Why? [more inside]
Suggestion, not critical: perhaps a way to show that a post has been closed/deleted, in the style of the "X New Comments" update at the bottom of the thread? [more inside]
Atlantis post vanished from the Blue? I'm running the Deleted Posts script, and I can see other deleted posts, but this one seems to have just disappeared. [more inside]
I posted in this thread that I thought he should respond with, "Yeah, that's fucking bullshit, huh?" Did that get deleted? Is there a no profanity rule on mefi that I don't know about, or did I violate some other rule?
I'd probably want to sweep this booger-string of a deleted thread under the rug too if it was my site. But it's sort of sad to lose such a gold star collection of mefi members practicing the non-bigotry they preach, so if anyone lost a comment they're particularly proud of the deleting mod pretty much invited you to re-post it to the open thread here.
So I was looking at this bizarre Metatalk thread and started to wonder: is there a way for me to see which of my comments have been deleted? [more inside]
why was my AskMeFi response deleted? [more inside]
Per this comment, what sites/content/links are most frequently deleted on the Blue?
I posted a FPP that was rightfully deleted, however out of it was coming some interesting details about the topic and I'd like to learn more. Can I rephrase it as an ask mefi or is that bad form? [more inside]
I can see the favorites this comment has, and it shows up in my side bar because it was made by a contact, but the comment has been deleted.
The faq says there are greasemonkey scripts that try to track deleted comments. Is there anything working? I couldn't find anything following the link. The deletions here are so regular it's like using the internet from China.
So when did lofi stop showing deleted posts? Is this a new feature or a temporary bug?
I can haz pony filter: Some sort of live marker of deleted posts, perhaps in live preview, would be really nice. [more inside]
Mass deletions? 79140, 79144, 79147 and 79149 are all showing as having been deleted but none of them are closed for comments or given a reason for closure. Is my Greasemonkey broken or is your Blue broken?
My post, Project Censored as censors? was, ironically, deleted for reasons which have nothing to do with the posting guidelines. I complained and was asked to raise it here. [more inside]
Although cortex callously and without hesitation deleted my fabulous single link youtube front page post, I still see it, albeit with a re: sidebar.
Is this a feature?

Disabled accounts show up in "nearby users." I clicked on this profile and then had to click on this username (because, WTF? Was santorum taken?). Well, to make matters slightly weirder, a search for santorum brings up the username and the user's "real" name, though it's no longer visible in the profile.
I posted a question in AskMeFi and can't find it. What gives? [more inside]
It's an interesting story in its own right. Its surface correspondence to the Palin rumors makes for a a good 'hook', which I used, but I don't think that makes the possible solving of a 260-year old mystery less interesting or worth reading about. The coincidence is amusing, but the post doesn't rest on that, and if anything it makes the post more fun. And it certainly doesn't belong in the existing Palin thread. [more inside]
Re: the Bristol Palin pregnancy thread being deleted - uh, the other post in which it is being "discussed" is sort of inaccessible. [more inside]
My answer deleted. Please explain why. [more inside]
I asked a question and many of the responses were that I am "biased." Is a judgement of character a prerequisite for answering a question?
I would like to congratulate gman on the occasion of his thirteenth deleted post of 2008. Is this a record?
