Special Snowflakes, all of us!
I'm killdevil, and I'm a special snowflake. But I need a garment that can communicate my specialness to others. Any idea when the "Special Snowflake" and "Everyone Needs a Hug" t-shirts will be returning to the MeFi store? And/or new designs so exquisite that we'll be helpless not to tear off whatever we're wearing in order to wrap ourselves in 5 of them?

It starts out normal enough...
Just a teeny blip on the meta-Meta screen but I know how much y'all like that sort of thing: the guy who's trying to stay sober by drawing a comic a day noticed we were talking about him. Congrats on helping an alcoholic go another day without drink. [more inside]

I'm looking for a MeTa I'm not sure exists.
Is there a Meta out there about the website prisonvoices.com, which allows you to write/become penpals with prisoners? Search has failed me. TIA!

Help with an old link...
I'm looking for a sire mentioned on metailter or askmefi long ago. It was a site designed for people looking to build their vocabulary (or people who just like words). It allows a user to keep lists of words on the site and links to definitions. Users can also view lists created by other users. This seems like it would be relatively easy to find but I am striking out. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Thanks!
Are all links created equal?

A KISS Reminder for RelationshipFilter on the Ask Mefi Question Page?
Ask Metafilter relationship questions that are 25+ paragraphs long, which is a more and more frequently seen problem, never go well. How about putting wording to that effect on the Ask Mefi posting page? [more inside]
OH YEAH! That's what it was!
Can you help me find this post? A while back on the blue, someone posted a comic strip about a sentient being who is engineered by scientists to provide sustenance for the few remaining humans on earth. The "twist ending" is that.....(spoiler alert!) [more inside]

FDA investigates radiation overdose at hospitals
This NPR story from the 15th about radiation overdoses at three hospitals from CT scans reminded me of this post on the blue awhile back, which is now closed. I still think of this from time to time, so I thought some of you might be interested. [more inside]
MeepFilter
Congratulations to emelenjr and No-sword, whose comments (1 and 2) in scalefree's post on the school that banned "Meep" were quoted in celebrity lexicographer Erin McKean's column on the subject in the Boston Globe today.
Links for the Memories
The welcome-back message on the front page reads 'x links and y comments posted since your last visit' (except, y'know, with numbers). But most posts contain more than one link. Would it be better to have it read 'x posts and y comments'? There's probably a downside I'm not seeing.

"Maybe, maybe, maybe this will be reprinted? A girl can dream."
I, too, have reason to thank MeFi today: Back in January, peep posted to Metafilter about Mel Juffe and Edward Gorey's The Recently Deflowered Girl, which had been long out of print. Through a delightful stroke of luck, I have become the editor responsible for bringing the book back into print, and the mefi thread about the book was pretty darn helpful to that end. [more inside]

A little something for the old-timers: MetaFilter made a brief appearance alongside beloved sister site Fark on a recent Know Your Meme regarding its participation in 2003's Bubb Rubb craze. We were so young.

What online fora molded you?
This might be too chat-filter-y, but I get the impression that a lot of people on mefi put in serious time in other internet fora before settling here. Just kind of curious if there's a lot of common denominators (Compuserve, The Well, etc?), and if they influenced what you expect from a 'good' online community and that's why you ended up here. Play me off
Did I hallucinate a Metafilter comment? I remember reading the line "Play him hither, Lute Cat" on Metafilter recently and though it was so hilarious I needed to illustrate it. I wanted to give credit to the original commenter, but I can't for the life of me find the comment. All my styles of google-fu have failed me. Did this comment actually exist?
No other information
If an FPP about a member (even if they happen to be famous) is posted, but it doesn't provide any fruitful information for others to right a situation where they feel they have been overcharged, then why is it allowed?
