Bug in the search results.
Is it just me, or are the "Go to the detail view for this result" links on search results not scrolling to the anchor points?
Duplicate names are possible.
It is possible to sign up under the same name as someone else, using a [SPACE] before the username. That is a bad thing.
You can't post a link on Opera/Linux
You can't post a link on Opera/Linux: the "Post -> Wait" button just takes you back to the preview page.
Mistyped URLs Break MeFi
Every once in a while, posts like this pop up where someone types an incorrect URL, usually forgetting to include the http://. It's an honest mistake, but did you ever think about adding a simple regex to correct URLs on the fly?
Sorting "My Comments"
Not exactly a bug, but this seemed like the most relevant place for this question:
Hey Matt! What happened to the handy dandy "my comments" sort?

MeFi has officially eliminated a date on the calendar.
There is no June 24th on my "dates" view. MeFi has officially eliminated a date on the calendar.
MeTa Errors
The Error Messages are getting more and more frequent in Metatalk. Yes, this is a double post, but sufficiently urgent. The most recent one was: http://metatalk.metafilter.com/comments.mefi/8590#99606
using IE5.0 for Mac.
And yet another error message when I tried to post this on--oh cruel irony!

I can't access the site (June 2001)
Recently I discovered that I was mysteriously unable to access MeFi from my home peecee running Win98. I keep getting server timeouts. I tried Netscape 4.74, 6, and even IE to no avail. I didn't see this problem until recently.
At work I've got an O2 and a Dell laptop running IRIX and NT4.0 respectively. Both systems are running Netscape 4.74 and I seem to be able to access MeFi just fine.
Is this a problem with cookies, or a sinister plot to drive Win98 lusers like me insane? Please, give me another reason to hate this OS.

Italicized front page
Can someone put a tag on the front page?
Everything after the description of the very first entry is now in italics.

Comment text disappearing after preview.
Editing weirdness. Is it just my lack of standards compliant browser (all I ask for is a browser that is compliant, supports imap mail and runs on linux) or what? Tried to post a comment and previewed. Last night there was nothing to edit "below" and back erased everything. Today at one point I could edit below, then I couldn't although back left text in place. Neither seems to be true here (talk not mefi).
Community HTML fixes
I like the fact that posters can leave HTML tags unclosed and that other people come along and "save" the page. It builds communty strength. Even if a way is devised to automatically close tags, I vote against implementing it.
(and I don't like that I am incapable of editing copy on a computer screen and don't notice errors until it's too late.)

Restoring the 'filter back in 2001....
now that quesoFilter's up and running, how about putting the header graphics back up on metafilter proper? it's just not the same without them!
Time Zone Display
Is there any chance the time can be displayed in the top right hand corner in metafilter again?
It's disapeared, I'm in GMT, and so I cannot work out how old the threads are.
Either that, or is it possible to display all the times in GMT, or let the user choose which timezone they want displaying? Fanks very much.

Why The Use of Font Tags?
Ugh.
Error with the MeFi scholarship link in Opera.
Opera5 shows the "MetaFilter college scholarship" as an off yellow link but it's not clickable. After a quick glance at the HTML it seems Opera doesn't like the negative value, "margin-top:-20px". It looks like there's an unclosed DIV tag around that area too, well, maybe.
Zee tote board, eet ees broken.
I'm assuming this is just a result of high load, but the main page now says "Connection Failure members" instead of the number of actual members. Is it time to switch to "billions and billions served"?
TimeZone Bug
MetaFilter from the future. Says up at the top there (and on this post) that it's 1:41 PM PST. Not for another hour, I think. It is, however, 1:41 PM PDT.
On NN4.6/Windows, i am unable to post a comment
On NN4.6/Windows, i am unable to post a comment (it gets eaten after hitting "preview", regardless of whether I spell check).
No big whoop though; I could always switch browsers when posting if nobody else is having this difficulty. Thanks.

In-thread graphics wonky in Mac Netscape
In-thread graphics always get wonky on my Mac's Netscape. In this case, it's the Amazon graphic. Not only does it cover up other text, but it doesn't let me click on it. Any chance a plan-text link can be posted?
Formatting error in Netscape 4.5 (Feb. 2001)
I run at work on a crappy computer with Netscape 4.5 (ewww)and have noticed recently that when I preview a comment of mine, not only is there no editing text below the preview (it was like that before), but now when I hit "back" it loses what I typed. To make it suck even more, I copy my previous text from the preview and paste it in the text box and it is unformatted and I have to go fix spaces and line breaks. What gives?
Problem with passwords while posting a comment.
Password problems: When I hopped over to MeFi today, I found I wasn't automatically logged in any more. I don't know if that's a MeFi problem itself, as I've had all sorts of weirdness with IE lately on my end. I logged in, no problem. But then when I tried to post a response in a MetaTalk thread, my password wasn't automatically filled in like it usually is. I didn't even notice until I hit "post," at which time I got a yummy ColdFusion error.
I can't post comments using the new prevent-double-post-code
Boy, I hate to gripe, but using Opera 3.6, *blush* I can't post comments using the new prevent-double-post-code. It always previews, I'm guessing it's coz both the preview and post buttons have the name 'post.'
For the last few days, every MeFi page I load is missing one piece....
For the last few days, every MeFi page I load is missing one piece:
And every 30 seconds or so, the browser tries to reload it, but it never succeeds. This in MSIE5.5b1/Mac.
"Connection failure members" bug
Hullo Matt, we have a minor bug:
When I load MeFi, instead of being told how many members there are, I instead get: "Connection failure members".
Is this an M2K bug? :-)

[title] tag breaks the page.
Whoops. I broke it. I did a [title] tag in the etiquette thread about link descriptions, and it blew up the page.
Preview again....
I was wondering if MetaFilter's tendancy to turn character codes into the characters they represent is because of the preview process, and that's why I'm testing this: < >
I want links in new windows
I changed my prefs back to having links open in the same window. The prefs tell me that is what is going to happen now, but it never does. I've logged out and in, etc etc, no matter what, the links still spawn a new window.
Stuck logged in on MetaTalk.
D'oh - I just noticed it's not easy (actually, it's not possible) to log out of metatalk. Sorry about that, I'll dig in and see what the problem is this weekend.
Early Metatalk bug (May 2000)
When clicking on the MetaTalk in the nav bar on anypage that isn't the first, it's going to the old metatalk address.

Bugs on customize?
Bug, ish, maybe? Went to "Customize" just to see why my email address wasn't showing in my profile (probably because I asked it not to and then forgot I'd done that). Anyway, I changed that, and also changed to show the floaty thing just to see what it was; when I saved the changes suddenly it was underlining my links. No big deal, I'm sure. (Matt, do you get a lot of these bugreport type things in MetaTalk? Is this where you want them? I'm not at all sure anyone else would care about this sort of small thing.)
MeTa Archives
Bug: Go to Metatalk. Click Archives. Get 404. Curse wildly.
Posting goes to MeTa
Um, whoops. I think I found a bug. Click "post a comment" on the main page, and then "post a topic" on the top nav, and it goes to MetaTalk, instead of the main blog. Sorry bout that.
