If you were ever looking for an easy way to export your favorites (and tags!) to your bookmarking service or browser of choice, here you go! [more inside]
Help me! Looking for a post of comedy video, where the entire video is portrayed as looking at the monitor of an IT guy. Hilarity ensues when a guy from marketing asks him to reboot the Web server, and the IT guy interrupts a game of Halo to help. [more inside]
I'm getting fed up of seeing meetups scrolling down the sidebar and not being able to attend any, so... who's up for a meetup in Ireland at some point between now and the end of May? [more inside]
Karaoke came up frequently during recent Austin meet-up planning and the meet-up itself. Many folks requested a specific planning thread for this endeavour. Here it is! [more inside]
Is there a Meta out there about the website prisonvoices.com, which allows you to write/become penpals with prisoners? Search has failed me. TIA!
Still curious where MetaFilter users are from? The survey results are in. [more inside]
When/where/what-like was the first NYC meetup? (My GoogleFu failed.)
Blazecock Pileon's relentless browbeating of anyone who is not a cheerleader for Apple and general bad behaviour whenever Microsoft is mentioned in the iPad thread and others is becoming increasingly tiresome. [more inside]
As a follow-up to the thread on the murder of Dr. Tiller: Scott Roeder has been found guilty of first-degree murder. [more inside]
The people have spoken: MeFiChiMichAveMeetup will be at the usual time, at the usual place! Wednesday February 3rd, Billy Goat on (under) Michigan Avenue, 6-ish. Hooray!
Boy, I'd sure like to edit my comments, and I'd be willing to chip into a development fund to make it happen. [more inside]
Is the "http://metafilter.com/username.mefi/username" URL format broken? [more inside]
I'm looking for a sire mentioned on metailter or askmefi long ago. It was a site designed for people looking to build their vocabulary (or people who just like words). It allows a user to keep lists of words on the site and links to definitions. Users can also view lists created by other users. This seems like it would be relatively easy to find but I am striking out. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks!

A suggestion for AskMeFi: rather than (or in addition to) anonymous postings, why not give everyone a few throwaway accounts? [more inside]

This blog post is so meta-MetaFilter that I wouldn't dare post it on MetaFilter. Note that that the comments are probably metameta and sometimes more.

I'm curious. How many countries/nationalities are represented on Metafilter? [more inside]
I wanted to point out a simply magnificent couple of comments about the Google Book Settlement by one of our members, grimmelm, or James Grimmelmann, as he’s know in the real world. [more inside]
I'm looking for a link that I'm pretty sure I found on MeFi, but searches are failing me. It was an all Flash site with a series of videos and documents connected together as a sort of flowchart. Viewing each of these revealed portions of a mystery. Videos were displayed on a cube, with different camera angles on different sides of the cube. Anyone remember what I'm talking about? Thanks.
Followup on the memorial for Brad Graham. (Previously here & here, donation page here). We've nearly reached our $5000 goal here, and have an additional contribution of about $3k, so I'm now in discussions with the Rep about how to use the money, and want to get a sense of your preferences. [more inside]
MeFi gives us the option to choose a theme, tweak the font, font sizes, etc, to make the site look the way we want it to look—to a degree. Add-ons like Greasemonkey allow us to customize even further.

I unintentionally derailed a really good thread about involving inmates in arts programs to combat recidivism by talking about how resistance to inmate programs is partially fueled by community frustration with collapsing opportunities for art in schools. The flash phrase was No Child Left Behind. So, can we bring the NCLB rage here and get back to talking about art in prisons there?
I don't know whether this is possible or desirable, but could we have a count of our deletions somewhere on our profile page? [more inside]
Tell me London, what do you really think about afternoon champers in January? [more inside]

I've got a round trip ticket to New Orleans. [more inside]
I just want to point out how fast and accurate the Metafilter Detective Squad was in debunking this deleted post.
Let's discover New Orleans with favorite son Ignatius J. Reilly. [more inside]
Let's have the "fuckity fuck fuck on the front page" discussion in here instead of here.

What was that music video someone linked to in a Lady Gaga thread that featured a bunch of different factions, including one who wore plague doctor masks? [more inside]
Portland, OR, it has been too long. I propose a meetup, as I haven't managed to make any since cortex got back from his Meeting Metafilter trip. [more inside]
MeFi's own headspace has been nominated for an Edgar Award in the Best Young Adult category for her first novel Shadowed Summer. The Edgar Allan Poe Awards (popularly called the Edgars), are presented every year by the Mystery Writers of America. They honor the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction, television, film, and theater published or produced in the previous year.
Is there a rule about AskMeFi questions that are explicitly asking for help pirating software? Because if not, there probably should be.
Any Mefites going to MIX 10 or just hanging out in Las Vegas in March? How about meeting for drinks on either the 15th or the 16th somewhere in the area of Mandalay Bay?
Hey, Los Angeles: assuming that the city is still standing after the rain next week, who's up for a belated New Year's meetup? [more inside]

I'm having a hard time understanding why a public relations missive from a mainstream corporate band about a minor technical issue is somehow worthy of inclusion on the front page of MetaFilter.

In six days, there have been four FPPs about Haiti. Can I get a clarification as to what constitutes a double post? [more inside]
Telling people to fuck off is not very nice.
Austin meetup? [more inside]
I flagged three double posts this weekend and left gentle (At least, I hope they were taken as gentle) comments in each. Does that make me (or anyone else here who reminds posters when open threads exist,) a threadshitting asshole? [more inside]
Holy smokes, I just got my first MeFiSwap mix CD in the mail yesterday!

Why are there two places to click? Why does the "[more inside]" link point to the same place as the "XX comments" link? [more inside]
Episode 48 was recorded on January 11 and runs about an hour long. We cover our favorite bits of the site over the past month and squeeze in a few more music clips than usual. Enjoy. [more inside]
So how do the mods feel about the user base, really? [more inside]
Help me find a comment from a few years ago from someone who used to drive a San Francisco Cable Car. Google has failed me. I remember it relating the challenge of working the cable grip and the various braking systems at the same time. The topic came up in a discussion today and I was hoping to find the link and send it on. I'm 90% this was on Metafilter, but its possible it was somewhere else on the web. Thanks!
The mobile version of the front page is slightly too wide for Safari on my iPhone. [more inside]
Last May I posted a link to a Time magazine article about the assassination of prominent Guatemalan lawyer Rodrigo Rosenberg, carrying the allegations that President Alvaro Colom was behind the murder. A UN panel has concluded that the lawyer arranged for his own assassination.

Central Florida MeFites-- let's get together! [more inside]
Anonymous pony? One time I asked a question about squicky things, and I asked it in a way that wasn't very useful to the community. Not having it show up, I contacted Jess and she gave me some advice on how to improve it. What if failed anonymous questions were posted and immediately deleted and looked like regular deleted ones with reasons for deletion. This will only work for those with the Firefox script, but at least the asker gets an opportunity to remain anonymous, and other users acquire a sense of what's not going to work.
Safari 4 does not seem to be correctly displaying the number of new posts in a thread and I think it's the Top Sites feature of Safari 4 that is causing this problem. [more inside]

I know we've been over this before, but it bothers me to see people giving legal advice on askme, like this.
Our dear longtime member Bradlands is gone. Delightful SXSW party host, coiner of the word "blogosphere", all-around bon vivant & damn fine friend. Not much news yet, but here's a placeholder for news to come & remembrances. He will be so greatly missed.
In the recent thread on the pitfalls of writing realistic LGBT characters, I stated how I didn't feel the "predatory gay man" trope was completely out of line given how I had encountered such people in real life. Great nastiness ensued. [more inside]
In honor of little e and Kattullus' visit to the Vermont there will be a meetup on January 15. [more inside]

Hello, Eugene! I am moving to town full-time on January 7. Care to meet up for drinks or coffee?
Denver: WTF. Last time, you all gave me this crap about how I never come out to meetups, how I had no community spirit, et cetera. Well, I say to you - what meetups? It's been two months! So why not get together, eh? [more inside]
