There's quite a few 10th anniversary meetups with only a solitary attendee, in places where there are plenty of MeFites... [more inside]
How big (in bytes) is Metafilter? [more inside]
I, too, am trying to find a comment I'm almost certain I read on the Blue. It was a refutation of the glib, "The internets is serious business!"-style dismissal of people who would deign to take anything said online to heart. The tone of the comment was something to the effect of, "Sure, it's no big deal, it has only connected much of the world's population in ways only dreamed of," or something. I'm not doing it justice, nor am I trying to. The commenter might have been quoting someone else. Many thanks to anyone who can locate this!
How about if the Metafilter Scholarship be used as an award for a project by a Mefite they can present publicly at the big 10th anniversary event? The winner could be chosen by how many times their presentation is favorited as a live event being posted on Metatalk because it's related. [more inside]
Are there enough MeFites in Southeast Asia for a satellite meetup for MetaFilter's 10th anniversary? [more inside]

Has anyone thought about doing a periodic podcast of tunes exclusively from music.metafilter? Would Metafilter or any of the artists have an issue with someone doing this? Would anyone want to host it or help in other ways? Would anyone listen to it?
This idea has been sticking around in my head for a while: assuming its creator cortex didn't vehemently object, could Big Big Question be integrated into Metafilter as a new subsite? I think it could be something amazing. [more inside]

Has anyone ever mark favorite on a post in an AskMe thread in hopes that will light the way for the OP to mark it as Best Answer? [more inside]
What's the plan for Metafilter's 10-year anniversary? [more inside]
By request, I updated my Metafilter Stats for the first time in two years. User growth, Top 20 lists, and daily stats are all current, as of last week. [more inside]
Has anyone done any interesting analysis of metafilter data? I'd like to see average posts/day, average comments/post over time, for starters. But I bet there are many more interesting/pointless questions to be answered beyond that.
Can I put this in my metafilter URL? [more inside]
I don't want a new pony! I just want to know how to ride the one I have. [more inside]

Tanks for the new server. Can we see a picture of it? [more inside]
The new server: you're soaking in it! We're on the new boxes now, post any bugs or weirdness you find here and we'll work on it as fast as we can.
Preparations are in order for the big move. [more inside]
6 years ago today in Metafilter. [more inside]
Guys, I love MetaFilter. [more inside]
MetaFilter gets a mention in M Magazine (the magazine that comes with The Age in Melbourne). Slightly odd reference, not an internet sort of article. [more inside]
Should've known better... I presume you didn't meant to post this to the front page, dude. -- cortex [more inside]
After 8 years of lurking, Gamien Boffenburg crawls out of the woodwork to ... defend the use of the swastika, compare Israel to Nazi Germany, and joke about sexually assaulting a Zionist. And that's it. That's all he brings to the table. Gamien Boffenburg, I hereby invite you to crawl back under whichever rock you came from.
Wow. I'm so impressed with the healthy, interesting, and totally civil (from what I've read) discussion in this post . I just wanted to say THANK YOU. :) [more inside]
Just wanted to float an idea about Ask Mefi categories. [more inside]
I remember an Ask Metafilter question in which it was asked whether, if the current Queen of England went by a name based on her forename and surname (the format many of us go by, such as "John Smith" or "Jane Doe"), what that name would be. I can't seem to find it under the "queen" tag or via a Google search. [more inside]

Yet another shoutout for a MeFite going above and beyond the call of duty in real life: HopperFan. [more inside]
Why doesn't the Metafilter search also look through deletedthread to find duplicates?

Son of MetaFilter Mini Meet Up... at the Marco Polo in Georgetown Good music, stimulating company and conversation were hallmarks of last month's affair and now the stars align again at 8 PM on Saturday, November 22nd, in the Marco Polo once more. [more inside]
Can you help me track down a radical book mentioned on some part of Metafilter? My search skills are weak, apparently. I would really appreciate it. [more inside]
Why is it that sometimes Metafilter shows the correct number of posts and comments since my last visit and other times it's as if I hadn't ever clicked a thread? [more inside]
Milestone alert: This deleted thread was #75000
Please, please abort this offensive, trolling post that links primarily to two, year-old NYT articles and is basically an editorial for eugenics.
Anyone else unable to add a custom MeFi icon webclip to their iPhone home screen? I just get a snapshot of the page, instead of the nice blue MF logo (which was working for me earlier this year.) Other sites with this functionality are working fine. Tech Specs: first gen iPhone, OS 2.0, unlocked and jailbroken.
Because for some reason I can't sign into metafilter's main page, I thought I'd give a brief update on the situation in this thread here. [more inside]
Two months ago, Fearless Leader gave a neat talk at WebVisions 2008 about how to make money off your particular web passion without resorting to venture capital interference or selling out, and the slides and the audio (MP3) from his talk are now online. It's plenty cool enough to watch/listen to on its own merits, if you've ever dreamed of running your own web company or making a small-but-cool web tool -- but since MetaFilter (and what it's been like to start and run MetaFilter) are mentioned prominently, I thought it was worth noting here, rather than on the Blue. Lest anyone miss it on the blue, this post needs to be added to the list of those that are referred to whenever someone asks what an excellent FPP looks like.
